Job Description

Legal and General's Retail Test Team are hiring for a new Test Manager to join the team and help deliver against projects in the annuities and workplace spaces, before assuming responsibilities as a line manager to guide a small team through project planning and delivery.

This role will see you working across several domains such as cloud, applications, mobile apps and desktop across the workplace portfolio taking ownership for the planning, strategy, stakeholder management and risk management of the projects.

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking accountability for leading and managing testing in a product or project development team using different techniques and tools and overall accountability of all Test phases - FT, SIT, UAT, PAT, PEN/NFT, ensuring target dates are planned and tracked
  • Leading and providing effective communication to your team, the Head of Test and other senior stakeholders to ensure effective decision making and integration
  • Coordinating manual and automated testing with other test teams and interested parties to help ensure the successful delivery of work into different governance and delivery models
  • Providing line-management, professional guidance, plan, and coordinate development and coaching for a team of 1-5 QA Team members and managing the team in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures
  • Ensuring an understanding of the principles of Business Transformation and translating these principles into business/people change activities and project outcomes
  • Taking responsibility for managing third party relationships ensuring that dependencies are identified and managed and deliverables are achieved, as defined in the project's Test Approach and without incurring unnecessary cost or delay to the project while implementing efficiencies or procedural change as required to the benefit of service

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • An expert understanding of software testing, why it's important, and how it fits into the software development process is essential
  • An understanding of software development processes and frameworks is essential
  • A strong understanding of how we can improve software quality before we start testing is essential
  • An understanding of test automation techniques and tools is essential
  • An understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners is desirable
  • A wider interest in technology and how it can be used is desirable
  • Experience in leading test across multiple Development methodologies (V-Model, Agile, SAFe, Waterfall)
  • Experience using Test Management tools to manage test execution and reporting specifically JIRA and XRay plugins
  • Previous team leadership, coaching or people management experience is desirable
