About the Job you are considering:

Lead end-to-end testing for UK payments transformation initiatives within banking and financial services, ensuring solutions are delivered safely, compliantly, and to high-quality standards. Own and drive the overall test strategy, planning, and execution across functional, integration, UAT, and non-functional testing phases. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery while meeting regulatory expectations and operational resilience requirements across payments systems.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Job Role:

  • Define and own test strategy, test plan, and overall test approach for payments programs
  • Lead test estimation, resource planning, scheduling, and progress reporting
  • Manage full test lifecycle including requirements analysis, test design, execution, defect management, and closure
  • Coordinate end-to-end integration testing across applications, APIs, middleware, and third-party systems
  • Drive testing across UK payment schemes such as Faster Payments, CHAPS, Bacs, and SWIFT
  • Ensure robust test data management, including masking/anonymisation and environment readiness
  • Lead defect management including severity assessment, triage, root cause analysis, and closure governance
  • Support and govern User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including entry/exit criteria, execution oversight, and sign-off
  • Plan and oversee non-functional testing such as performance, resilience, and security testing
  • Implement automation strategy, shift-left practices, and CI/CD quality gates
  • Ensure adherence to audit controls, compliance standards, and regulatory expectations
  • Provide clear status reporting and updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums

Job Skills:

    Proven experience as a Test Lead/Test Manager in banking or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of UK payments systems: Faster Payments (FPS), CHAPS, Bacs, SWIFT
  • Understanding of payment lifecycle including failures, cutoffs, returns, rejects, duplicates, and reconciliation
  • Expertise in end-to-end integration testing across distributed systems and APIs
  • Strong test management skills including planning, estimation, and governance
  • Advanced defect management and triage leadership skills
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ALM, Zephyr, and reporting dashboards
  • Knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, and API testing tools (Postman, Rest Assured)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and quality engineering practices
  • Experience with SQL and data validation, including XML/JSON
  • Understanding of ISO 20022 messaging (preferred)
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
  • Desirable Skills
  • Experience with ISO 20022 migration programs
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards
  • Certifications such as ISTQB (Foundation/Advanced), Agile/Scrum/Kanban, or quality engineering certifications
