Job Title: Technology Control by Design Manager
LOCATION(S): London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol and Halifax
Salary: London: £73,000 to £90,000 (non London locations -£62,000 to £75,000)
Hours: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.
We’re looking for a Technology Control by Design Manager to join our newly formed Group COO (Group Chief Operating Office) Chief Controls Office. LBG are in the middle of one of the UK’s largest financial services transformations to ensure we remain relevant for our customers today and tomorrow. To do this we need to do move at pace to reach the right customer outcomes in the quickest and safest way possible.
The Chief Controls Office is a key enabler in the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management transformation to mature our approach to risk & control, upgrade the Group’s future risk management capabilities through an automated, digital, data-led risk & control service to allow the business to transform safely at pace.

We’re looking for a Technology Controls Design Manager to join our team and to be part of our control by design and business process re-engineering service to ensure Group COO control environment has the right control, designed in the most effective and efficient way possible.
What would you be getting involved with?
- Provide support and advice to risk and control owners and library owners on control design and effectiveness.
- Drive the delivery of controls (stock and flow) through automation using various platforms and technologies.
- Defines the divisional principles for control by design, supporting control owners to think in new ways and adopt guidance.
- Engages with relevant business units to identify potential areas for automation and/or process improvement.
- Leads and co-ordinates control design improvements and builds business cases to increase levels of automated controls across the division.
- Works with the technical delivery partners and control owners to support implementations.
- Seeks opportunities and engages with relevant control owners to support in reducing cost of control across GCOO.

And the skills/background you’d possess?
- Previous experience of developing, transforming and/or implementing control frameworks associated with both traditional and new emerging technologies, cloud, cyber and change.
- Experience with business process re-engineering including applying waterfall/agile methodologies and design thinking (Prince2/PMP/BSC/Lean Six Sigma etc).
- Understanding of technology tooling to support new innovation within the risk and control landscape (PowerApps/ServiceNow/MetricStream etc).
- Understanding of innovative approaches of using technology, data and automation to enhance control environments.
- Good tech change management skills and experience in collaborating with multiple colleagues to drive action and delivery.
- Have broad knowledge of common industry control frameworks (COBIT, NIST, CSA CCM etc) and regulatory requirements (SOC etc).
- Excellent communication skills with a track record for engagement with colleagues at all levels.
- Risk management experience in financial services sector, Fintech sector or technology sector with understanding of operating in a regulated environment.
