Job Title: Technical Systems Lead

Location: New Malden. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £78,000 (depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

Daily meetings with the teams involved in the project – you will be a pivotal point of communications

Process assessment/creation – Creating or amending process to better “fit the bill”

Document handling – reviewing decisions, documenting agreements, approving solutions

Investigation liaison – you will be involved within investigation’s and expected to actively monitor them

Assessing/Scoping technical solutions to better our system – technology continues to evolve and we’re expected to provide our systems with the most security possible

Act as the Technical Lead for Project Hopper – an obsolescence refresh programme for both CMS and Shared Infrastructure, guiding people as required and acting as the focal point for determining and reviewing technical solutions

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

Previous experience in: Requirements, system design and Acceptance process, Interface Management, System Performance, Networking, virtualisation, COTS Hardware, server and blade technology

Experience in technical authority, ability to lead the work involved with a technology refresh of the system hardware

Significant experience of working in a similar technical IT environment

Demonstrable experience of working in a customer focussed role

Desirable:

Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment with numerous stakeholders

A well-motivated individual with a strong desire to succeed who continuously strives to improve performance through their self-drive and commitment

Degree qualified or equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Some disciplines may require a Masters level education. Chartered Engineer, or other relevant, equivalent professional registration. Member of appropriate professional institution, ideally working towards Fellow.

The BAE Systems Structures Team:

As a Technical Systems Lead you will undertake a defined range of engineering activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements under the direction of the SI SDA. The primary focus of this role is on developing the Hopper technical solution for the T26 platforms. The secondary focus will be on developing a ‘core product’ solution under Hopper that can be read across and applied to the other in-service platforms. The work will cover a broad range of technical areas including hardware, software, systems and networking.
