Brief Description

What will you be doing?

The Commercial Asset Management team (CAM) manage the non-operational property estate, comprising Commercial Estate, Freight, MAP and (currently) Lease Payables. Our asset base is ca. 5,800.

The role of Technical Surveyor will sit within the CAM team, supporting the wider team to achieve its key aims:.

  • Increase Health and Safety and Regulatory compliance
  • Support railway operations and targets
  • Increase income and reduce costs
  • Improve external reputation
  • The purpose of the role will be to contribute towards the management of the estate, using excellent communication and organisational skills. Knowledge of systems such as Horizon, GeoRinm and Workflow are desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.

    Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:

    Stakeholder Management - To deliver a range of property services to a client group, and be responsive and professional in the support and advice that is provided on the range of Property issues. Develop liaisons with all stakeholders to manage the property service provision effectively.

    Operating Environment - To provide support and deliver property transactions and services as required to meet the requirements of the client and/or benefit of the wider portfolio

    Resource Management - To develop and maintain close and effective working relationships with internal colleagues to enable efficient and effective delivery as required by the client. Liaising with internal and external partners (solicitors, 3rd party suppliers, surveyors) as required.

    Service - To deliver a service strongly focused on customer requirements to all internal clients and external customers, outperforming service targets. Completion of all documentation in a timely and professional manner.

    Strategy and process - To identify opportunities and support changes required in delivery of Property Services overall strategy

    Safety - to implement property solutions in support of delivery of a safe working environment and a safe rail system. Assist in good quality estate management in order to protect Network rail infrastructure.

    Sustainability - to make sustainability a key element of all activities being delivered

    Financial - to increase Property's contribution to the cost of the company's rail operations by delivering efficiently on all property services and transactions.

    Knowledge Sharing - Personal working principles to be compliant with legislation, best practice and standard procedures and sharing this more broadly across the team.

    Authority / Decision Making - Preparation of technical documentation for approval and signoff by Surveyors/ Senior Surveyors.

    Project / Programme Management - Provide ad hoc support to projects / programmes as required.

    Training for RICS qualification

    Proven experience of managing a range of property transactions

    Understanding of the rail industry and rail legislation
