The role
With a focus on delivering a great customer experience, the Technical Supervisor will provide a comprehensive and first-class service in camera, lighting, sound and grip equipment rental whilst working within operational parameters.
The Technical Supervisor will be the main point of contact in ProVision Manchester on a daily basis, working with the Head of Provision managing all sales activity by reacting to customer requests as appropriate and proactively seeking out opportunities to maximise sales and utilisation of assets.
The Technical Supervisor will deal effectively with a wide range of clients from camera assistants to producers, production coordinators and directors of photography, providing technical advice and solutions as appropriate, whilst coordinating equipment and staff in accordance with customer and business needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensure the supply of camera, lighting, sound and grip equipment is organised in a way to fully meet the needs of the client.
- Working alongside the Leeds and London bases to ensure a joined up approach whilst maximising the best use of assets for the group.
- Ensure that all equipment is well maintained, PAT tested, LOLER inspected and appropriately presented when being supplied to customers.
- Overall responsibility for the preparation and checking of equipment prior to dispatch and on return from the client, including organising any repairs required whilst keeping the customer informed throughout the process.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of technical assistants, coordinating workflow and delegating tasks effectively whilst keeping the Head of Provision updated appropriately.
- Provide quotations for equipment hire either direct to the client or via the Head of Sales and Technical Operations in a timely manner, with the aim of maximising resources and considering any commercial implications.
- Ensure that every effort is made to offer the client any instruction necessary in the operation of the equipment. Delivery of "hands on" technical training and familiarisation as required.
- Ensure good health & safety practice in all aspects of equipment supply.
- Maintain an efficient and safe working environment.
- Provide support to the immediate team, the Head of Provision and cross-site / inter department staff and management as required.
- Respond in a timely fashion to all urgent requests for assistance from productions, including ensuring that there is a workable out-of-hours support system.
- Negotiate and organise the sub hire of equipment as required.
- Ensure that consumables are managed in a cost effective and efficient manner.
- Feed all client and business relevant information into the central database and ensure that this information is updated as and when required.
- Conform with other necessary business processes within ITV.
- Promote and support the use of internal resources and support to all areas of ITV.
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)...
- Minimum 3 years experience and good knowledge of working in the film / TV industry , as a Technical Supervisor or similar
- Demonstrable high understanding of location equipment and production techniques
- Up-to-date knowledge of camera formats, latest technology and workflow processes
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Health and safety training and awareness
- Able to deal effectively with all levels of staff and management
- Literate and numerate and computer literacy skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to work self sufficiently and raise standards
- This role will involve lifting and carrying large heavy lighting, camera, sound and grip equipment. You must have the knowledge and experience of how to lift and carry safely
- Potential short notice call out to support production requirements.
- This role involves driving to various locations to collect and deliver equipment therefore a full, Manual drivers licence is essential.
