Park Signalling combines technology design and consultancy with specialist knowledge and product development to enhance the service life of train control systems and equipment. With a range of products and solutions for monitoring signalling assets, Park Signalling uses digital technologies to deliver performance improvements for heavy and light rail networks and signalling systems globally.

We have an opening for a Technical Sales Manager to join our team to promote and sell the products, services and advanced engineering capability of Park Signalling including Engineering Solutions and Smart Products in the Rail sector. You will play a key role supporting the growth of the business consistent with the Corporate Plan, nurturing and growing existing customer accounts, winning new customers, building relationships and supporting the development of industry leading propositions. You will actively support all Park Signalling activities in the UK and appropriate overseas opportunities, working collaboratively with the wider Park Signalling/UTG sales teams.

Key responsibilities of the role include;

  • Identify and pursue sales leads/opportunities with existing and prospective customers and convert them into profitable sales.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with designated existing and prospective customers.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver responses (including presentations) to existing and prospective customers.
  • Communicate new product propositions to existing and prospective customers.
  • Negotiate contract renewals and new contracts.
  • Maintain Customer Relationship Management database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions and provide the Managing Director with market activity feedback.
  • Produce a monthly Sales and Business Development report.
  • Contribute to the overall business development plan and strategy.
  • Promote and develop the corporate image and reputation.
  • Support at Trade Shows, conferences and industry events, including on-stand support and public speaking.
  • To work according to the principles of the Unipart Way tools and techniques
  • To display behaviors in line with Unipart Way
  • Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate
  • Report any accidents, hazards or dangerous / unsafe behavior to your line manager immediately

Candidates will have proven experience in sales & business development, preferably in the Rail industry, and will hold a sales related qualification such as Miller Heiman or SPIN Selling. In addition, candidates will excellent negotiation, closing and follow-up skills, a strong commercial flair, and be able to communicate with all levels of the business.

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Researching and targeting potential new customers across a wide range of industries.
  • Identifying key decision makers and proactively building relationships through regular networking, social media platforms etc.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels in a customer organization, from execs to production operators.
  • Consultative selling, helping customers to clearly define issues, opportunities and requirements.
  • Generation of compelling proposals and presentations in response to customer needs.
  • Commercial processes, including risk management, costing and pricing
