Our Project Assurance section within our Offshore Infrastructure Department in Energy Systems work with a broad variety of clients, ranging from owners, operators, EPC contractors and design houses to yards, manufacturers and emerging energy transition companies.

We are a motivated, supportive team of engineers, project managers and support staff, working on a wide range of exciting projects and initiatives, to ensure energy assets are safe, and to prepare ourselves and clients for a secure energy supply as we move through the energy transition.

Some typical projects are:

  • Complex greenfield and brownfield development projects for third party verification including design review and field inspection and commissioning
  • Technical qualifications of emerging technologies and designs for the energy transition
  • Advisory support to internal and external clients on wide range of traditional and renewable energy projects

Our Opportunity:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Technical Safety Engineer/Senior Engineer with experience in the design and/or verification of passive and active fire and explosion protection systems, escape and evacuation facilities, and associated safety systems, performed in conjunction with an understanding of risk assessments and studies, for onshore and/or offshore energy facilities.

You will form part of our multidisciplinary team, engaged in verification and assessment activities across different engineering disciplines (including, but not limited to: technical safety, structural, process safety, electrical and instrumentation, mechanical and geotechnical disciplines) and you'll apply your expertise, acting as a discipline lead, to assure the highest quality of service delivery to meet customer requirements within the timeframe, costs and quality standards established.

In addition you will have the opportunity to support in bidding for and management of projects and also support the with the ongoing development of less experienced members of our team. Your role will be based out of either our Aberdeen or London offices, with occasional onshore and offshore field trips depending on your role and experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a proven track record of delivering quality results, along with:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical and Instrumentation) and Chartership (or studying towards) within your chosen discipline
  • Demonstrable experience as a Technical Safety Engineer, preferably within the energy design, engineering or consulting sectors
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, demonstrating an ability to manage, develop, and lead technical projects independently, simultaneously coordinating, and executing key activities, whilst maintaining high performance and quality under pressure
  • Ability to win new business with existing and potential clients, develop proposals, bid for contracts and attend client meetings
  • Curious and proactive in learning new skills and knowledge, demonstrating a solution-oriented approach, aligning a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by the Energy Transition and the need for Energy Security for DNV and our clients
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, including confidence in building professional relationships both internally and externally with customers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise reports and present complex solutions and ideas to both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders
