Head of Quality
Salary: £50,000-£55,000 pa (plus excellent benefits)
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Quality to join our friendly and supportive Delivery Team.
Reporting to the Delivery Director, the Head of Quality is responsible for shaping and leading the quality strategy across all apprenticeship provision, ensuring that teaching, learning, and assessment consistently meet high standards and deliver exceptional outcomes for learners and employers.
Working collaboratively with compliance staff, delivery teams, and Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Quality will champion excellence in pedagogy, curriculum design, and learner experience. You will also lead on quality assurance frameworks, learner and employer voice initiatives, and preparation for external inspections, including Ofsted, ensuring the organisation is always inspection-ready and responsive to feedback
The role will be predominantly remote with at least one day a month at our South London office.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and support the development of your team to achieve agreed performance standards, including KPIs through effective coaching, performance management, and professional development.
- Support the organisation's readiness for Ofsted inspections by ensuring all apprenticeship delivery, documentation, and processes meet the Further Education & Skills Inspection Toolkit.
- Develop and implement a quality assurance strategy aligned with organisational goals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement observation schedules, including peer-to-peer sessions, ensuring moderation and standardisation meetings are completed on time. Communicate any follow-up actions or areas for improvement promptly to the relevant Skills Coach and Manager.
- Lead the organisation's response to the new apprenticeship assessment reforms, ensuring all delivery models, assessment strategies, and compliance processes align with updated regulatory requirements.
- Lead the design and implementation of quality improvement plans (QIPs), self-assessment reports (SARs), and quality cycles to drive excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Promote learner and employer voice through surveys, forums, and feedback mechanisms, using insights to enhance the learner journey and inform quality improvements.
- Develop and implement the English and maths strategy including the curriculum for Functional Skills delivery, ensuring all apprentices receive appropriate support in English and maths in line with DfE and Ofsted expectations.
- Ensure robust systems are in place for identifying and supporting learners with additional learning needs, including EHCPs and SEND requirements.
- Lead on the development and implementation of inclusive learning support strategies that promote learner success and retention.
For this role you must have:
- Experience as a Practitioner/Teacher (desirable)
- Experience in a quality role within the apprenticeship sector
- Experience of managing people / managing multiple projects
- Experience of quality inspections or reviews, including self-assessments, e.g. Ofsted
- In-depth knowledge of DfE Funding Rules, Ofsted and other regulatory bodies
- Knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent duties
- Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Officer (desirable)
- Able to influence colleagues to adopt the requirements of policy and procedures
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and high emotional intelligence
- Proactive and resilient
- People-person who enjoys learning and growing, personally and professionally.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels
- Excellent IT skills with knowledge of CRM's and Office 365
