About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced technical product manager to help maintain and shape our API product. This role is perfect for someone who likes technical conversations while considering developer experience alongside commercial priorities.

You will be a key part of the team delivering the Equals Money product roadmap and have the opportunity to deliver first class financial products to customers. You will be working on both internal and external facing systems and liaising with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

As a technical product manager, you will...

• Have a strong understanding of API products, being able to work with the Engineering team to set requirements for new features in the form of API design

• Be able to use our API product directly, validating API functionality.

• Have experience contributing to technical guides that will educate our API customers on how to integrate to our product.

• Translate high level roadmaps into actionable batches of work for the Engineering teams.

• Manage new features from concept to delivery.

• Write user stories to effectively communicate requirements to the Engineering and QA teams.

• Work closely with Engineering, and QA teams to ensure that requirements are well understood and ensure that the product/feature is ready for launch. This will include running of planning sessions and retros for new features.

• Develop a release to market strategy, monitor customer feedback and look for opportunities to improve and optimise the customer experience.

• Work with the rest of the team on tasks like documenting specifications, product testing and ensuring that the team is building the right thing for the right reason at all times. This will mean getting stuck in and knowing where you can help the team to succeed.

• Communicate effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

• Work closely with the Growth team in ensuring the product features are accurately reflected in first class product collateral and relevant market campaigns.

• Work closely with colleagues in Operations and Customer Services to ensure they have required product knowledge of any new features.

About you

• Proven experience delivering successful end to end customer facing products whilst owning a product roadmap or strategy.

• Strong experience in taking customer and business requirements and translating them into technical product specifications.

• Ability to write detailed user stories, create sprint plans and release plans.

• Experience of leading a team of developers and designers towards defined product goals and building software products from the ground up and producing MVPs.

• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

• Technical and detail oriented.

• Proven senior stakeholder management experience, specifically translating technical conversations for non-technical audiences.

• Familiar with using applications such as GitHub, Postman and Notion.

Accountabilities:

• Drive platform adoption and growth.

• Mentor cross-functional teams and provide product leadership.

• Take responsibility for the quality and consistency of our public facing API suite.

• If not already present (this is by no means a must), develop an understanding of payment technologies, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.

Desired Skills:

• Ideally experience as a product manager in a payment solution business

• Experience in platform thinking, with a focus on growth and customer stickiness.

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive results.

• Strong data literacy skills to validate assumptions and measure success.

• Technical expertise in areas such as software development, APIs, and product architecture, ideally having worked on a API product or a product with strong API or platform focus.

• Experience or background in an Engineering based role.
