Purpose of the Role
Join the New Model Feasibility team as Technical Manager- Feasibility, where you'll be responsible for working with all areas of the business to influence new product design from the very start of a project through to vehicle launch - ensuring that all our products are feasible for assembly, design for manufacturing principles are implemented within the design, delivering benefits to quality and cost, and playing a pivotal role in driving extraordinary customer journeys through the execution of Definitive Modern Luxury design in our electrified product portfolio. Reporting into the Functional Manager- Design for Manufacture, your main responsibilities include;

  • Leading a cross-functional team to identify, manage and resolve manufacturing feasibility issues for a particular vehicle zone.
  • Influencing product concept, style and part design through data analysis, technical knowledge and supporting recommendations.
  • Leading and supporting cross-departmental reviews.
  • Carrying out product benchmarking to identify opportunities and best practice.
  • Conducting feasibility analysis of A-surface style and B-surface part design.
  • Resolving identified problems and concerns
  • Identifying, managing and conducting physical validation trials
  • Implementing product design improvements to support Manufacturing targets and KPIs.

The New Model Feasibility team is part of Bentley's Launch Quality Centre - responsible for delivering world class products and launches into production.

About you - Skills and Experience

  • Relevant automotive experience in a role directly related to design analysis and problem solving within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment (similar experience within associated industries considered).
  • Experience of developing and launching new products.
  • Understanding of vehicle assembly techniques and practices.
  • Understanding of analysis tools and techniques such as CAD interrogation (CATIA), virtual build, tolerance analysis.
  • Strong influencing, with a commitment to build positive relationships with other departments / business areas and VW Group as an outward facing expert.
  • Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide as appropriate.
  • Good business awareness and ability to make and influence strategic decisions within business context.
  • Leading cross department teams and activities to achieve business objectives.
