Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Technical Manager (with a mix of office & site based), to strengthen the business area's Project Delivery Unit (PDU) preferably based in either London / Glasgow. The PDU team is responsible for the project execution of large-scale infrastructure renewable projects of onshore wind, solar and grid services across Ireland and the UK. You will report to the Programme Delivery Director for Grid services Ireland & UK and you will be working on Grid services projects primarily (Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) & Synchronous Condenser (Sync Comps) projects.

If you are a Technical Manager within the renewable power industry with experience from UK or Ireland, then we want to hear from you! As Technical Manager for PDU (construction) for Grid services (Battery &/or Synchronous Compensators) in UK or Ireland you will be supporting projects from the early start of development and until operation.

  • You will need to develop and manage a technical team and be responsible for the technical decisions taken in the project development.
  • Manage the technical workstreams, in support of the project manager, from early development until start of operation of the facility.
  • Act as a technical expert within BESS, sync comps, grid connection or electrical engineering
  • Participate in interactions with suppliers to ensure best market knowledge.
  • Technical advice in due diligences of potential acquisitions
  • Prepare and quality assure technical specifications in tenders.
  • Technical lead during procurement processes
  • Act as work package responsible and/or BOP contracts in the construction phase
  • Support other units in Statkraft as required with technical competence and understanding.
  • Manage technical disciplines in a project.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical or mechanical Engineering or similar with documented extensive experience in the field
  • Relevant work experience in renewable energy and/ or grid services projects development and construction, and preferably in the UK
  • Strong understanding of the development and construction process of renewable energy and/ or grid services projects
  • Knowledge of BESS &/or sync comp suppliers preferable & a major advantage.
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of renewable energy business models and cost of energy drivers.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with demonstrated ability to negotiate a strong commercial position for the company with relevant stakeholders.
  • Independent self-starter with a clear ability to manage a large workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritizing tasks and effectively juggling competing deadlines
  • Proactive and solution-oriented with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English essential.
