Purpose of the Role
We are seeking an Technical Manager - Connected Car Features to join the Connected Car team on a full time permanent basis, at our Crewe campus with hybrid working.

As a Technical Manager - Connected Car Features at Bentley you will be responsible for managing Connected Car custom features, core infrastructure and technical enablers throughout the lifecycle, from defining technical requirement, nominating developer teams, technical project management, release, continuous improvement and up to decommissioning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for delivering Connected Car services, infrastructure and technical enablers according to business requirements
  • Supporting R&D Feature Owners to deliver their services by delivering Connected Car technical enablers and infrastructure
  • Responsible for the management of nominated outsource/supplier partners to/from concept to implementation
  • Responsible for the creation, maintenance and release of all technical documentation related to Services assigned
  • Leading cross functional technical teams to launch services, enablers and infrastructure and find solutions
  • Contributing with technical details during supplier nomination process
  • Owning service requirement ensuring that they are up to date and relevant
  • Generating and owning test cases for Connected Car services
  • Translating business requests to technical requirements
  • Owner of the risk records related to their services
  • Supporting operations team with incident troubleshooting
  • Leading continuous service improvements, based on issues reported and proactively uncovered
  • Working with test equipment to confirm deliverables, reproduce issues and verify fixes

About the Team

The Connected Car team is part of the R&D Electrical/Electronic Engineering department and the vision of the Connected Car team is to provide our customers with a range of features and services that make their Bentley relationship the most rewarding, convenient and magical connected experience by integrating the vehicle into their personal ecosystem and meeting the Beyond100 strategy

About you - Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be a qualified engineer with broad experience in connected products and feature ownership gained from the IoT or ideally the Automotive industry. You will have an excellent technical understanding of the IoT landscape with a focus on backend and connectivity technologies. You will be comfortable leading technical cross functional teams both internally and externally to deliver services and value to the business

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in IoT or Automotive Technical Product development
  • Excellent understanding of IoT technologies
  • Experience working with Jira suite
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team
  • Experience working with test equipment
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • A degree or equivalent engineering experience is required for all engineering roles
  • Proficiency in German language would be an advantage
