We are seeking enthusiastic Engineering Managers to join our expanding Rail Engineering Services team to lead on the technical delivery of our diverse portfolio of rail engineering projects across the UK and overseas.

We are seeking enthusiastic Engineering Managers to join our expanding Rail Engineering Services team to lead on technical delivery for a number of our diverse portfolio of rail engineering projects across the UK.

In undertaking this role you will:

  • Lead, direct and coordinate multi-disciplinary technical teams for a number of our projects and support resolution of complex technical problems
  • Manage client and stakeholder relationships to achieve desired project outcomes
  • Have a strong understanding of CDM and health and safety regulations setting an example for Health Safety and Welfare on your projects and instilling a strong safety culture within the delivery team
  • Lead on the development and management of client requirements and other assurance outputs i.e. assumptions and departures
  • Lead design coordination activities such as IDR/IDC and promoting digitalisation to aid outputs
  • Undertake the CEM role in accordance with NR/L2/INI/02009
  • Support Project and Design Managers in the technical delivery of Rail projects
  • Provide guidance, support and mentorship to aspiring engineering managers
  • Maintain a strong and effective client network identifying and pursuing opportunities to support business objectives.

YOUR TEAM

You will work on exciting and inspiring projects for a variety of Infrastructure Owners, National and Local Governments, Public and Private Sector clients including Network Rail, HS2, Regional Transport Bodies, Operators and Contractors. You will report directly to our Rail Engineering Services Technical Solutions lead and be part of a small team of senior technical leaders that oversee our most challenging and complex projects. Together your focus will be:

  • Deliver Rail Multi-Disciplinary Projects for a number of important Clients
  • Undertake project work from across the full design lifecycle, from early concept stage to detailed design and subsequently supporting implementation contractors on site
  • Act as a mentor to others in the business, supporting their development by imparting your technical knowledge and experiences
  • Provide clients with technical excellence and the ability to delight.

The role will be based in one of our iconic city centre offices throughout the UK, primarily Birmingham, Glasgow, London or Manchester. Qualifications

We are actively seeking recognised senior Engineering Leaders with demonstrable multidisciplinary delivery experience; proven leaders that have a track record of developing and maintaining Client relationships.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A track record of successfully delivering multi-disciplinary projects and programmes as a Senior Engineering Professional
  • Experience across the full project lifecycle from initial feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation.
  • An ability to manage multiple workstreams and teams, balancing priorities, making value and delivery judgements / decisions to meet or exceed our client's expectations.
  • Technical knowledge to be able to challenge project teams on outputs/deliverables and where necessary, clients to ensure focus is maintained on defined scope or where scope needs to be modified.
  • A chartered professional with a relevant Institution and a track record of mentoring and developing staff.
  • Experience undertaking CEM and/or CRE roles
  • Understanding of Client Engineering assurance processes i.e. GRIP and PACE
  • Experience of Network Rail and / or HS2 standards. Awareness of other standards i.e. TfL or Crossrail desirable.
