We are currently looking for a Technical Director (MEP) to support our Head of Department to develop and drive our services targeted at clients within the Healthcare sector. With sustainability and innovation at the core, and experts within multiple technical disciplines, we want to become a trusted partner to our healthcare clients as they navigate the green transition. The healthcare sector and its investments in green solutions present a great opportunity to bring about the change that is needed to close the gap between today and a sustainable future. Consequently, this is an area of key strategic importance to Ramboll.

Key aspects for the role

We expect the Technical Director (MEP) to share our drive and ambition to build on the recent growth of our Healthcare division. The role will be multi-facetted including:

  • Raising Ramboll's profile and reputation in the Healthcare sector both nationally and internationally
  • In the Healthcare sector support Ramboll's leadership team to
    • identify and track new project opportunities
      • national and International
      • single service line and multi-disciplinary
      • convert opportunities to appointed projects
  • Leading large multi-disciplinary project teams to successfully deliver healthcare projects
  • Influencing bright minds to build their careers in the sector. Supporting team growth through
    • coaching
    • mentoring
    • recruitment
  • Influencing the continued evolvement of Ramboll's technical delivery teams, with emphasis on
    • innovation
    • digital advances
    • project delivery
    • sustainable design
    • low energy / zero carbon design
    • post occupancy client care

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Take ownership of the implementation and delivery of projects in line with the contractual arrangements and the financial outcome agreed
  • Coordinating with resource leaders across the organisation to ensure that appropriate resources and expertise are made available and that that we bring the best of our knowledge base to our projects
  • Working with our key clients to maintain and develop excellent professional relationships which will enhance securing repeat business from our key clients
  • Understanding the Healthcare sector on a national level and any connected policies and sector trends

This role calls for someone who has proven experience in delivering complex projects in the Healthcare sector at national and international level. To be a success and thrive in this role we anticipate that you are a person who dares to challenge existing lines of thinking, who has an innovative mindset, and who inspires others to follow on the same trajectory.

You will have a broad and impressive history of major and complex healthcare projects, where you can demonstrate excellent delivery, meeting and exceeding your clients expectations. You will understand a wide range of healthcare building typologies. You will be capable of making an excellent impression when meeting clients and collaborative partners and will help shape the direction of the UK Healthcare team.

  • Academic degree or equivalent experience
  • Professional membership of relevant institution
  • A background in either Consultancy or Contracting delivering MEP advisory and design consultancy services for major healthcare projects
  • Proven and demonstrable experience and technical excellence in your discipline / area of expertise
  • Effective interpersonal, organisational and communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Sound commercial experience and judgement
  • A client centric approach
  • Ability to motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities

Join our Healthcare division - anchored locally with a global outlook

In our Healthcare global division, which we call our healthcare spearhead we are leading large projects for clients within the Healthcare sector - most often in close collaboration with colleagues in other Ramboll markets, as well as colleagues in other countries. We are working with some of the key players within the Healthcare sector that share our vision of creating sustainable healthcare facilities were people and nature can flourish and that improve outcomes for the people who use them. Our portfolio includes clients within the public and private sector and ranges from Research/University Hospitals through Acute and General Hospitals to neighbourhood, primary care and end of life or mental health care facilities - all-in-all a range of building typologies where we hold considerable technical and strategic expertise both locally and globally in Ramboll.

Our multi-disciplinary teams assist our clients and external collaborators in all phases of a project - from developing business plans and strategic planning to selecting the right solution and all way through the execution of the project.

As Technical Director (MEP), you will support the UK Healthcare Spearhead lead and have the strategic responsibility to profitably deliver projects within the Healthcare sector, with project outcomes to the satisfaction of our clients.

You will be a significant contributor to the leadership/management group in our UK Healthcare team where you, together with the other members of the leadership/management group, will contribute to setting the strategic priorities of the UK healthcare team that will ensure our continuous growth.

You will also take a technical leadership position and will be a key figure within the UK Healthcare team and take significant responsibility for the continued success of the team.
