Your new role, what's involved?

We are seeking someone with a wide experience in Operational Technologies (OT), advising clients strategically and tactically, with a strong commercial perspective.

You'll be a systems thinker that can elevate themselves above the detail to see the wider problems and lead the development of solutions that clients love. You'll also be person that leads at a client level and can enthuse and motivate staff at all levels in our organisaton.

This year the WSP Intelligent Infrastructure business will be formulating its strategy for 2025 - 27. As Technical Director you are the main connection between clients, WSP capabilities and growth leads. Our capabilities are vast spanning a business of 65,000 people. Growth leads have a client perspective in a sector or specific growth area.

You will be accountable for client satisfaction and responsible for growing a portfolio of happy clients. Your role as Technical Director will contribute to the external profile of the business, helping to maintain a leading position in our chosen markets.

Your Team

This role sits within the Intelligent Infrastructure business, Systems and Infrastructure which comprises capability in, Technology Strategy Advice; Systems Engineering; Data; Architecture; Solutions; Cyber Security; Connectivity, and Digital Infrastructure Design. You will report to the Group Technical Director.

You will

  • Report to the S&I leadership on the status of a portfolio of clients.
  • Liaise with the marketeers on opportunities.
  • Liaises with discipline leaders to understand and influence skills.
  • Contribute to the collaborative effort between marketeers and capability leaders responsible for skills development.
  • Understand the commercial model that makes our business profitable.
  • Maintais an industry profile and professional development where it engenders client trust and develops our business.

  • Excellent communication skills via industry papers, social media activity and compelling presentations.
  • The ability to visualise and articulate plans in concept and detail.
  • Attention to quality of delivery based on deep technical understanding of the components of Operational Technology now and in the foreseeable future.
  • Experience of successful networking within client organisations.
  • Experience of assembling high performing teams across a wide range of capabilities.
  • A record of achieving the delivery of clients Operational Technology Solutions ranging from feasibility to integration.
  • An ability in technical leadership resulting in client expectations being exceeded.
  • Skilled in developing client trust and leading clients resulting in long-term expanding relationships.
  • Demonstratable passion for growth across turnover, products/services, profit and headcount.
