The Technical Manager plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the technical team to ensure effective and
efficient project execution and operational excellence. This role encompasses setting team direction,
managing performance, facilitating professional development, and ensuring high-quality deliverables through
robust technical knowledge ad leadership skills. The incumbent will act as a liaison between internal
stakeholders. Additionally, you will tackle complex problems both within and beyond your area of expertise,
providing support and guidance to your team to overcome challenges. Operational teams, suppliers, and
customers to manage technical changes and project requirements seamlessly. You will be responsible for day-
to-day management decisions and team strategy, as well as team welfare and performance.
What you'll do:
- Line manager responsibilities for the Technical team, to include setting priorities for daily workload, and team direction for team members. Performance appraisals, regular 1-1 feedback sessions and to facilitate on-going development needs for team members, ensuring that the team can function in an efficient manner
- Knowledge and understanding of different programming languages and ability to solve problems in coding, testing and deployment
- Possesses good knowledge of client/server architectures and various compatibility requirements
- Manage and prioritise technical changes and requests from internal stakeholders, operational teams, suppliers and customers
- Ability to manage change and effectively pass on information to those impacted, including both senior stakeholders and team members
- Resource management skills and ability to handle complex/sensitive issues
What you'll bring:
- Proficient in technical documentation such as HLD's/LLD's, SIT, SAT and UAT
- Understand project/Operational requirements, coordinate with resources and direct in a timely manner
- Proficiency in Data retention obligations for communication service providers, including relevant legislation such IPA 2016, Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR
- Be able to work under pressure whilst being able to meet tight deadlines
- Experience in troubleshooting software development processes and ability to understand and implement necessary requirements against legislative requirements
- Experience of learning new procedures within a team and working in a changing environment
