About the Role:
The role is a key technical position within the Group finance function, an accounting expert for the business, leading on all Group accounting and policy matters, accounting / reporting queries from the Business Units (BUs) and setting direction for future developments in IFRS, local GAAPs or legislation from government / governing bodies.

The role will plan and deliver quality accounting papers to support accounting treatment at interim and full year close including briefing the auditors and agreeing accounting in a proactive no-surprises manner.

The role will drive acquisition fair value accounting relating to M&A activities for the Group and advise on accounting for key transactions, and complex accounting items such as derivatives, pensions, leasing and share schemes.

The Group Accounting Manager will support the production of the consolidated financial statements and disclosure notes at the year-end and half year as well as reviewing individual entity statutory accounts across the Group.

In addition, the role will work alongside the Group Reporting Manager and will be a key point of contact for the Tax, Treasury and Cosec teams. The role will also brief BU Finance teams and Finance as a whole on future accounting and reporting developments and how they impact Britvic.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounting and Reporting - Technical Expertise & Support
  2. Prepare accounting and reporting papers for audit and other purposes
  3. Technical query management to support all BU Finance teams across the group
  4. Provide technical accounting training sessions for BU Finance teams as required
  5. Lead and advise on complex accounting matters such as pensions, derivatives, share-based payment, impairment testing and leasing
  6. Awareness on all future accounting and reporting developments
  7. Own key models such as those required for impairment testing of intangibles and investments in subsidiaries
  8. Own the Britvic Finance Policy Manual (IFRS), undertake a manual refresh and communicate updates to finance teams
  9. Statutory accounts (Annual Report and subsidiary accounts) - review for appropriate disclosure requirements
  10. Tax - advise and lead on correct accounting for entity restructures and tax owned recharges
  11. Technical support to strategic projects - acquisition accounting, write offs/impairments etc.
  12. Support the Group Reporting Manager through Full Year and Interim reporting

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  1. Experience in Practice or a Financial Accounting / Reporting environment, preferably with plc exposure
  2. Expert in technical accounting and reporting - IFRS, Local GAAP and accounting advice / paper production
  3. Excellent attention to detail and strong organisation and planning skills
  4. Statutory reporting process expertise
  5. Management of external relationships - audit/regulatory
