As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be part of an organisation that is 100-percent employee owned, that supports and creates many opportunities for you to advance, succeed and fulfil your career aspirations. You will have the opportunity to work with engineering teams to create detailed designs, plans, and specifications from concept to completion. You will support project managers by undertaking tasks on a wide range of projects. Project sectors include Datacentres, commercial/corporate offices, finance, education, hotels & leisure and mixed-use developments.

Job Holder's Primary Objectives
Senior Engineer for our Civils team primarily working within Data Centre/ Mission Critical Environments. Managing project delivery, technical requirements, understanding scope of works, cost planning and agree deliverables, i.e. report, specifications and drawings scope for all projects within the Civils team. Assist with commensurate of fee with the Civil/Structures Director, for each project. Assist in managing resourcing and assist Civil/Structures Director with invoicing.
Responsibilities
- Monitor resource relative to each project monthly allowable fee expenditure, defining monthly Civil 3D/CAD requirements and two-weekly engineering workload forecasts. Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender and contract on site supervision, to completion, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved, via frequent design reviews with engineers.
- Ensure all design projects and reports within the group are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Maintain regular 'in house' design reviews and checks.
- Client and design team liaison, assisting in the preparation of fee proposals, financial control of projects when acting as a project manager and undertaking business development.
- Ensure your projects are delivered to budget, programme and technical standards.
- Define, control and monitor design and construction costs on behalf of the Client.
- Mentor and develop Graduate and Junior Engineers.
- Monitor contract staff or third-party appointments.
- Maintain excellent client relationships and contacts to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business. Manage client's expectations and promote a team approach.
- Develop new business opportunities where appropriate and participate with company presentations.
- Motivate yourself and manage staff within group to build coherent high performing teams. Set objectives, monitor performance, coach and develop staff to optimise their potential.
- Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project financial budgets.
- Implement management and administration systems (timesheets/expenses etc), co-ordinate holiday leave within group.
- As requested, carry out staff Personal Development Plans in accordance with the Personal Development Plans Procedures. Report any staff performance problems to Divisional Director and agree corrective action. Identify and implement all training/CPD requirements of staff within their group.
- Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- BEng, MSc, or equivalent grade in Civil/Structural Engineering or relevant subject.
- Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer (IEng/CEng MICE) or working towards this (Highly advantageous)
- Minimum 4yrs experience in designing and managing projects civil engineering projects within a design consultancy.
- Experience of monitoring contract staff or third-party appointments would be desirable.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Able to undertake computer modelling, organise and direct the production of Civils 3D and CAD/Revit drawings and correspond effectively with opposite numbers with other disciplines.
- Skills in project managing on-going jobs with limited supervision are desirable.
- Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software.
- Confident and experienced in providing multi-disciplinary design services to Clients.
- Confident, persuasive and conciliatory when dealing with Statutory Authorities and local councils.
- Effective written and oral communicator with an ability to relate to staff at all levels.
- Be familiar and review with various engineering conditions of contracts.
- Be familiar with and review consultancy engagement contracts.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, InRoads and other civil engineering software as appropriate
- Project Engineering and Project Management experience
