Why This Role Is So Important
As our Lead Software Engineer, you'll be the technical backbone of our development team, ensuring our products are built to the highest standards while keeping them secure, modern, and cost-effective. Beyond writing code, you'll lead, mentor, and coach a talented team-helping them grow while driving best practices and innovation.
What You'll Be Doing (The Fun Stuff!)
Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Building & Enhancing Products: Maintain and improve our software, ensuring security, reliability, and a best-in-class user experience.
Code Quality & Best Practices: Define and implement coding standards, architectural principles, and best practices.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with business analysts, product teams, and stakeholders to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
Problem-Solving & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends, explore emerging technologies, and drive continuous improvement.
Hands-On Development: Peer review code, provide technical insights, and contribute to building scalable solutions.
Team Growth & Development: Support, coach, and inspire your team, creating an environment where everyone thrives.
What We're Looking For
• Expertise in Ruby on Rails with commercial experience in building and maintaining software.
• Strong technical leadership with the ability to mentor, guide, and inspire a team.
• Passion for best practices in coding, architecture, and software development.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the ability to absorb new technologies quickly.
• Great communicator - able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Problem-solver with an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to see the bigger picture.
• Team player & role model - positive, proactive, and driven to improve processes and inspire others.
