This is an exciting opportunity to join the team and we are seeking to employ an enthusiastic individual to the role of Revenues and Benefits Team Manager with specific responsibility for Housing Benefit / Council Tax Reduction administration.

The position is a permanent 37 hours per week role working on an agile basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the benefits service which incorporates:
• Housing Benefit
• Local Council Tax Reduction
• Local Welfare Assistance
• Discretionary Housing Payments
• Free School Meals
• Government discretionary schemes

You will have experience of working in Local Government and ideally have a working knowledge of the Capita One Revenues & Benefits System and the Information@Work Enterprise document imaging system, although those with experience of working with other Revenues & Benefits or document imaging systems will also be considered.

A good working knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction administration and legislation is essential to ensure that awards are accurately assessed, made on time and within defined performance timescales. You will have good numerical and analytical skills and have the ability to understand complex legislation. Good IT skills and being proficient in using Microsoft Office packages will also be an essential part of the role to produce statistical reports and management information as required.

The role will also involve supporting the systems team with implementation of new releases, all aspects of the subsidy function, liaison with external auditors, HBAP reperformance and update of DWP workbooks and the implementation of a program of high risk claim reviews.

Working in a demanding environment, it will be important that you are well organised, confident focussed and remain professional at all times. You should possess good communication skills and have the ability to liaise with other council departments, benchmarking groups and the DWP.
