The Emergency Planning and Resilience Team ensures that East Sussex County Council is fully prepared to deal effectively with a full range of emergencies from localised through to catastrophic. The Team minimises the risk of serious damage to human welfare, the environment and to security by providing professional expertise and guidance on emergency management issues across the partnership and to the residents of East Sussex.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing an Emergency Planning partnership across the County, including the 5 District & Borough Councils and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, ensuring compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and the Public Health duty under National Health Service Act 2006.
As Team Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage a team of emergency planning professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement;
- Develop and implement robust plans and strategies, ensuring alignment with national frameworks and local priorities;
- Coordinate responses to major incidents, working closely with multi agency partners;
- Provide expert guidance and support to senior stakeholders, enabling effective decision making during emergency incidents.

The team provides the Local Authority 24/7 on call service for emergencies and the manager will be expected to take part in this.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
