Salary: £52,221 - £56,826 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (inclusive of market premia at £3,000)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a committed and experienced Children in Care Team Manager to lead a dynamic team of social workers dedicated to delivering high-quality care, stability, and positive outcomes for children in our care.

As a key member of our Children's Services leadership team, you will ensure that every child's voice is heard, their needs are met, and their futures are bright.

About the Role

Leadership & Management

  • Provide effective leadership, supervision, and support to a team of social workers within the Children in Care service.
  • Drive high standards of practice, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met consistently.
  • Model reflective, relational, and restorative leadership aligned with organisational values.
  • Oversee team performance, ensuring timely assessments, planning, and reviews.

Safeguarding & Practice Quality

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children through robust decision-making and effective care planning.
  • Promote evidence-based practice, trauma-informed approaches, and a strong focus on stability and permanency.
  • Chair key meetings such as Permanency Planning Meetings and care reviews as required.
  • Monitor and quality-assure casework, ensuring compliance with legislation, policy, and best practice.

Partnership & Multi-Agency Working

  • Build strong relationships with carers, families, health, education, commissioned services, and partner agencies.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure children receive coordinated, holistic support.
  • Contribute to the development of service pathways and improvement initiatives across Children's Services.

Service Development

  • Support strategic planning and service improvement to enhance outcomes for children in care.
  • Contribute to audits, quality assurance frameworks, and inspection readiness.
  • Promote a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and professional development.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Social Work degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipSW (with specialism in children's services), approved by Social Work England and evidence of continuing professional development.
  • To champion improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire as part of the operational management structure of children's social care.
  • To ensure that children and families receive high-quality coordinated services which meet their needs and keep children safe.
  • To work with partner agencies in a coordinated and integrated approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for children and families
  • To take a lead in embedding the Departmental practice framework underpinned by the Signs of Safety Methodology to support the delivery of high-quality social work practice
  • To provide management accountability to front-line social work services
  • To work in a needs-led service, understanding the impact of financial decision-making.
