About the Role

You will lead a talented team who provide a diverse range of support services for the Environment and Transport Department including quality management, transactional finance, democratic and governance functions, performance management and service planning.

You will have experience of delivering support services and the vision and experience to continue to develop the service so it meets the needs of the department. You'll need excellent communication and people skills and enjoy problem solving and developing and implementing innovative solutions that drive compliance, efficiency and service improvement.

This post is politically restricted therefore the post holder is disqualified from undertaking certain political activities under the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Experience of delivering, managing and improving high performing, specialist support services in a complex service environment
  • The ability to work strategically and operationally, with excellent organisational skills, to manage and prioritise a diverse portfolio of work areas and projects across multiple sub teams
  • A developed understanding of how the use of systems and business processes can support efficient service delivery, with the ability to interpret complex data/information to implement service and process improvement and ensure compliance
  • Successful track record of problem solving and delivering innovative projects that secure organisational culture change, efficiency and service improvement
  • Excellent ICT skills including Microsoft Office packages, Outlook and the ability to learn, implement and develop a range of specific business systems
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of at least two of the following activities:
    • Service improvement and culture change tools and techniques
    • Quality Management Systems
    • Transactional finance
    • Democratic services
    • Data protection and information governance
    • Performance and risk management frameworks and business planning
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with experience of working with senior manages ideally in a political environment. The ability to shape and influence to achieve successful outcomes
