Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12-month Fixed term contract as a Team Manager in the East Kent Children in Care Service. The service covers the Canterbury and Thanet areas and this post is based at St Peter's House in Broadstairs. You will be joining an experienced management team that is committed to providing high quality social work services to children and young people in care, working closely with our multi agency partners.

As Team Manager, you will be leading a team of Social Workers and a Social Work Assistant supported by a Business Support team. Your role will be striving for excellence for our children in care, you will have transferable skills and a good understanding of legal work, adoption planning and achieving permanence. You will be passionate about ensuring our children have every opportunity to succeed and enjoy their childhood. You will be able to motivate and lead a team from the front, ensure that you deliver high quality supervision and implement a practice learning culture based on audit and good communication. You will need to demonstrate that you can work in partnership effectively across a range of services to further outcomes for our children. You will understand the importance of resource management which is best achieved through creative and timely care plans. Most importantly you will have a 'Can do' approach and high resilience.

You will have the opportunity to try out new ideas and to be creative in how you run the team and seek best outcomes for children. You will be joining a stable and experienced management team and will receive excellent support and development opportunities as well as a good induction.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and to registration as a qualified social worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh Sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the job description/person specification.
