An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Social Work Older People's Team Manager to lead and support a team of social workers across older people services. Providing regular supervision, guidance and leadership to deliver positive outcomes for those who use social work services and their families.
The key focus for Older People's Service is to find ways to empower service users and their families and to develop personalised approaches to service delivery.
Expectations of service users constantly change and the challenge for Older People's Service is to respond to this with innovative solutions to meet individual needs.
The Older People's Service includes teams who support individuals to live within their local communities; support individuals to access short breaks; provide assessment and care management support from Social Workers within local teams; provide an Occupational Therapy Service by Occupational Therapists based in local teams; and carry out statutory interventions to have specific needs met related to learning or physical disability and mental ill health. This includes the support of the Fife wide Mental Health Officers Team.
You should have considerable experience in a relevant setting and knowledge and understanding of Adult Protection legislation, guidelines and information sharing protocols.
You may on rare occasion undertake activities out-with normal working hours and be prepared to work in the evenings and at weekends if required, e.g. training sessions, unusual circumstances and the occasional emergency situation that may arise.
You will be responsible for managing a busy team of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants.
You will support Older People Social Work Service Manager, contribute & lead service developments to ensure the service responds to changing need and demand and operates efficiently within available resources.
You will ensure H&S requirements are met.
You will be required to deal with a range of HR issues e.g. attendance management and disciplinary processes.
Team Manager will have an overview of service budget and ensure resources are targeted efficiently.
You must articulate the team plan from service, corporate, partner and other key stakeholder plans and targets ensuring team resources are focussed on key priorities.
You will identify and ensure that the necessary systems, processes and procedures are fit for purpose, understood and followed, including administration, links with internal and external stakeholders, etc..

The Person
Experience of joint working to achieve common goals and significant post-qualifying experience providing statutory Social Work services is essential.
A Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) is essential.
You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period.
Current or previous management or supervisory experience is essential.
Must have recent experience of managing and supervising employees within a Social Work environment. You must have the ability to manage competing demands and exercise judgment and initiative. You will be a team worker and motivator with excellent communication skills and possess a can-do' approach to help resolve problems.
You will have experience of redirecting support to priority areas while keeping team members engaged.
You will also have experience of working with a range of different groups and organisations, together with working within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
