Due to promotion a permanent vacancy has arisen for a team manager, south locality team.

The team provide assessments & reviews under the Care Act for adults with complex or longer-term support needs across a diverse group. In addition, teams would provide mutual aid to other areas of our services. The work is pressured & challenging. A creative approach is necessary, as is the ability to be confident with the 3 tier model, to lead your team to find strength base solutions.

You will be resourceful, resilient, proactive, and prepared for a working day with plenty of challenges and variety. Your role will include leadership, strategic work, supervision of senior practitioners, social care practitioners and social workers. You will work as a member of a team and have support from other team managers, the service manager, and head of service.

You must have an interest in and experience of working in a multi-disciplinary way, be able to work quickly and proportionately and have confidence in respect of decision making and positive risk taking. The role involves leading the management team and supporting the practitioners. You will need to be a good communicator, with excellent time management skills (previous experience of community based social work and budget management would be an advantage).

You must also have a good working knowledge of the Care Act, Safeguarding Adults the Mental Capacity act 2005 and Best Interest and Health and Social Care eligibility criteria. A significant aspect of the role is coordination of safeguarding enquiries providing advice and guidance to practitioners and chairing strategy meetings. A relevant qualification in social work, occupational therapy, or equivalent is essential.

You will be responsible for the effective day to day management and leadership of the Service, coordinating available resources, contributing to strategic objectives and outcomes, and ensuring safe and effective delivery of support to citizens, carers, and families. You will provide leadership to staff, acting as a positive role model at all times, fostering self-awareness and professional development; whilst ensuring that directorate objectives are understood, and that members of staff work together to achieve these objectives. You will also provide ongoing support, to staff members to enable them to deal effectively with complex customer and stakeholder requirements, finding positive solutions in difficult and changing situations.
