We currently have a Team Manager position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Redruth. Joining us on a full-time basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,240 to £52,300 per annum plus excellent benefits.

About the role

Based within an operational area, The Team Manager will Manage the performance, training & development of the Waste Water Operational Team. The Team Manager will be engaged in the day to day operation and maintenance of the Waste Water Pump Station assets within the area. In liaison with the wider team ensure effective planned maintenance of and reactive response to pump stations that supports effective operation of the sewerage network to satisfy customer's expectations and protect the environment.

What you'll be doing:

    • Actively engage and support the field team delivering their daily work to enable them to deliver agreed targets and outcomes. Ensure the field team are working safely and that they are not putting themselves or customers at risk. Engage with the Homesafe delivery programme and promote a behavioural safety culture.
    • Motivate and engage with individuals to create a positive and enthusiastic team, encourage creative thinking and sharing of ideas to resolve issues and improve the working environment
    • Ensure effective communication through regular team meetings, 1 to 1's and being available to the team, to include managing team performance in accordance with the agreed performance management framework; including productivity, service quality and overtime; behaviour and discipline including driving
    • Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety legal requirements are met and demonstrating a quantifiable improvement in Health and Safety culture, this includes regular review and update of site risk assessments and related documentation and training within area of responsibility.
    • Ensure team adhere to the schedules, business rules and procedures and liaise effectively with the Field Support Centres (FSCs) and Maintenance team to ensure asset operability is achieved.
    • Liaise with Maintenance & FSC Manager and the Tactical Support team within Asset Management to optimise the planning and implementation of asset repair and improvement works.
    • Ensure local operation of strategic contracts within WWS is within contract scope and follows agreed processes. Specifically ensure the requirements of the JVT are discharged effectively.
    • Ensure personnel issues are managed effectively to optimise employee performance and productivity and support the development and progression of team members.
    • Ensure the welfare of the field team is assessed and always maintained, particularly during event or incident including driver's hours.
    • Progression Scheme Delivery; NVQ and appraisal reviews in combination with the WWS Performance & Development Manager and training team where necessary.
    • Development and compliance with Quality Management Systems and other Company procedures.
    • Support the SPS Manager in meeting OPEX and Reactive CAPEX budgets.
    • Work in partnership with the Control Centre and SCADA team to deliver the remote operation of assets to achieve required output quality and quantity and minimise the number of reactive events (alarms) and operational cost.
    • Participate on the Duty Recovery and Treatment Manager standby rotation.
    • Deputise for the SPS Manager at meetings with internal / external customers or other external bodies.

What we are looking for:

    • Management qualification or relevant experience
    • Experience in waste water processes and/or sewerage networks.
    • Experience of working to a budget with financial awareness and the ability to balance the resources available to deliver results.
    • Preferable educated to A Level standard, min of 5 GCSE's grade A-C, including English, Math & Science.
    • HNC in related discipline. IOSH qualification or ability to complete.
    • Full UK Drivers Licence / Able to travel around the work area using company vehicle.
    • Ability to participate in the Duty Recovery & Treatment Area Manager standby rotation.
