JOB PURPOSE

Working within a team of tax professionals, managing a portfolio of mixed tax clients, reporting to HMRC and providing a high-quality tax compliance service.

CORE TASKS

PRIMARY TASKS

  • Collating and processing of tax information; preparation of tax returns; computing tax liabilities and advising clients and trustees of the tax position.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients, trustees and colleagues and working proactively and providing an excellent service.
  • Proactively manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensure regular contact and excellent service at all times.
  • Prepare tax calculations and provide advice where necessary, complete and submit tax returns within the specified deadlines, advise clients of tax payment obligations and monitor payment made to HMRC. Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.
  • Identify an areas of tax planning opportunities for the clients.

SECONDARY TASKS

  • Responsible for dealing with a portfolio of estate and lifetime tax matters, calculating tax liabilities/repayments to date of death, liaising with executors and HMRC.
  • Dealing with the tax matters for the estate administration period, liaising with executors and beneficiaries and HMRC.
  • Preparation of Trust and Estate tax returns and beneficiary tax certificates R185 and preparing computations of income and capital gains tax; liaising with executors, HMRC and beneficiaries.
  • Responsible for a portfolio of mixed trust, interest possession, discretionary, settlor interested; prepare tax calculations and ensure tax compliance reporting is carried out by specific deadlines.
  • Liaise with colleagues and trustees proactively to advise on trust tax matters, prepare tax certificates for beneficiaries and complete tax compliance reporting in respect of the winding up of trusts.

PERSON SPECIFICATION & SKILLS

  • Previous experience managing a portfolio of executries and personal and trust cases.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with legislation and internal procedures.
  • Strong team player with ability to work closely with the tax team and colleagues around the firm.
  • Experience meeting financial targets set for you personally and collectively for the tax team.
  • Maintaining tax technical knowledge.
  • Supporting the firm to achieve its strategic and commercial objectives
