The Role

Reporting to the Senior Group Tax Manager, this role is responsible for delivering the day-to-day direct tax compliance for the Sofina Europe Group, whilst working closely with the business to provide advice, champion improvements to tax processes and support to the wider tax team with ad hoc projects

Duties Include:

  • Manage the Group's direct tax compliance calendar and related reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of UK and Irish corporation tax returns, maintaining compliance with tax regulations.
  • Oversee overseas corporate tax compliance and administration.
  • Arrange prompt payment of corporation tax liabilities and manage related tax administration.
  • Support open and transparent communication with tax authorities.
  • Oversee compliance with the UK Senior Accounting Officer regime and the Corporate Criminal Offense framework.
  • Identify and implement improvements to tax compliance processes with cross-business collaboration.
  • Assist in preparing the tax charge and notes for group and subsidiary financial statements, liaising with auditors as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and guidance.
  • Provide tax guidance to UK Payroll, HR, and finance teams.
  • Support Group cash tax forecasting and optimize tax incentive schemes.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects, including Transfer Pricing, BEPS Pillar 2, CFC management, and addressing local tax issues.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • CTA qualified with post-qualification experience.
  • Accounting qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of UK tax legislation and tax accounting, with excellent technical skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing UK corporation tax returns and tax accounting provisions.
  • Knowledge of VAT and employment taxes is desirable but not essential.
  • Motivated, with strong communication skills and confident decision-making abilities.
  • Capable of building relationships at all levels, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external advisors.
  • Self-starter with excellent project management skills and experience leading projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a 'big picture' view, ensuring quality and accuracy in all work.
