Overview

We are working with a highly regarded national advisory firm that is expanding its specialist Tax Disputes & Investigations practice. This is a standout opportunity for a technically strong tax professional to join a dynamic team advising on some of the most complex, high-profile, and sensitive tax disputes in the UK market.

The firm is seeking an experienced Manager or Senior Manager, depending on level, who can lead client engagements, advise on contentious tax issues, and support litigation and dispute resolution strategies across direct and indirect tax heads.

The Role

As a key member of the Tax Disputes team, you will work closely with Partners and Directors to manage a wide range of matters, including:

  • HMRC enquiries and investigations, including COP8 and COP9
  • Voluntary disclosures and error corrections
  • Complex risk reviews and settlement strategies
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
  • Tax litigation support, including appeals to the Tax Tribunal
  • Penalty mitigation and governance advice
  • Drafting technical submissions, correspondence with HMRC, and strategic position papers
  • Managing client relationships and mentoring junior team members

This is a role that blends technical tax knowledge with commercial advisory skills and offers genuine scope for progression.
What We're Looking For We are keen to speak with individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Strong UK tax technical background, with ACA, CTA or equivalent qualification
  • Solid experience in HMRC disputes, investigations, or tax controversy
  • Broad knowledge across multiple tax areas - e.g. corporate tax, VAT, employment tax, personal tax
  • Ability to work with high levels of autonomy, discretion, and professionalism
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing client relationships and/or mentoring junior staff
  • Previous experience in a Big 4, Top 10, law firm or HMRC is highly desirable
