Tandem Rider Volunteers
Location: Leatherhead
Time Commitment: Approx. 3 hours on a Friday afternoon
Our Tandem Rider Volunteers play an important role in supporting those on a journey to a more active and healthier lifestyle by riding together on a tandem bike, or one of the specially adapted side by side bikes.
This activity takes place on a Friday afternoon, the club meets throughout the year for a group outing supported by a van. It usually includes a refreshment stop at a local café.
Skills required
- To be a confident cyclist and physically strong.
- To enjoy being part of a team.
- To be able to assist, when necessary, with sighted guidance/orientation (training will be provided).
- To be kind, empathetic and friendly.
Please note that y ou will need to be over the age of 18 in order to apply for this role.

One of our tandem volunteers, says: " I look forward to going out with the group on the tandem bikes, we generally ride 5 miles. It's good to have a challenge. Everyone really enjoys our trips out. Lots of laughter, good exercise, riding out in beautiful countryside with great company ."

To ensure the safety of the people we support, we require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.
