As a Programme Manager within Portfolio Management, IT Business Services at Deloitte, collaboration with senior leaders in the business will require you to be flexible, persistent and responsive to deliver high-quality IT programmes to Deloitte Partners and staff.

You will be entrusted to take full ownership and responsibility of a large and complex HR Talent & Finance programme whilst providing a positive and enthusiastic environment within your programme delivery team, empowering them to produce their best work.

A Programme Manager is the leader of a collection of projects and other initiatives which together contribute to the delivery of a significant improvement in business performance. Their role is to work with business leaders to define and lead the programme, including establishing the overall benefits and business case, the sequence and scope of enabling projects and the business change activities that are needed to realise the overall goal. The Programme Manager is responsible to the Head of Portfolio Management for the successful delivery of the business change as well as achieving the business benefits. Programme Managers will also have career coaching and developmental responsibility for a number of Senior PMs, PMs and Assistant PMs.

The Programme Manager is responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining the overall programme benefits and business case
  • Defining the programme's Governance structure
  • Working with the Programme Sponsor to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and lead the business change activities
  • Planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate action, focusing on consistency and coherence with other programmes and corporate and IT strategic initiatives
  • Assessing appropriate application of methodology to assure prompt delivery of business value
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and overall integrity of the programme so that projects are delivered into service with risks appropriately managed
  • Managing the programme's budget: monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses, identifying opportunities to increase value for money achieved
  • Facilitating the hiring and appointment of new hires to project teams
  • Assuring delivery of new products or services from the projects is of the appropriate quality, on time and within budget in according with the programme plan and programme governance arrangements
  • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme's individual projects
  • Work with procurement and vendor relationship, to ensure the third party contributions to the programme and managed within appropriate commercial framework to manage risk and value for money
  • Managing communications with all stakeholders
  • Managing both dependencies and interfaces between projects
  • Managing risks to the programme's successful outcome
  • Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise
  • Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the Programme Steer Co.

To qualify for this role you must have:

  • Cross-industry best practice experience of managing delivery of significant and complex programmes
  • Proven Leadership credentials with demonstrable examples of developing and leading High Performing Teams/People
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and manage technical and non-technical stakeholders up to and including C-Level, and explain complex technical concepts in non-technical language
  • An innovative approach to problem solving
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work

Our hybrid working policy

You'll be based anywhere in the UK (except for London) with hybrid working. Our hybrid model enables our people to collaborate, connect and innovate in both a virtual and physical capacity. As well as remote working, you'll attend your local office, virtual collaboration spaces and client sites, depending on the requirements of the role.
