Salary Base salary: £43,750 pa to £54,650pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Systems Manager at HS2 you will be responsible for end-to-end management and support of various project control systems used by HS2 and its supply chain. This role will also manage systems' configuration and interfaces with other HS2 systems. Ensuring the security and integrity of the data across all in-scope systems will be a key part of this role.
About the role:
- Assist Head of Systems and Tools with developing and rolling-out a consistent systems lifecycle management approach and strategy across the function.
- To be responsible for the ongoing management of the in-scope project controls systems to enable expedient, accurate and effective performance reporting and analysis. Maintain an up-to-date support documentation for each system under their management.
- Develop understanding of general architecture and landscape of all PMO systems and document and maintain interfaces with other HS2 systems and software tools.
- To be responsible for understanding the interface with other software tools and general architecture and landscape of all PMO systems.
- To be responsible for clarity, robustness, and support of the systems to maintain high levels of efficiency and ease of use to support performance.
- To act as the Design Authority for changes and document and manage any changes to in-scope systems, set-up, configuration, content, and functionality.
- Work with business stakeholders to develop a future roadmap for in-scope systems and interfaces, prioritise and continuously deliver and embed agreed changes in the system.
- Work with IT function and other delivery partners to impact assess and embed agreed and approved technical changes in line with business requirements, governance and in adherence to HS2's architectural intent.
- Ensure that there are agree and documented system onboarding and support processes in place for all data systems. To be responsible for the integrity and security of the systems, including competency of individuals prior to granting access.
- Provide data, reports and analysis to support problem resolution and root cause analysis, audit and compliance activities and identify trends, issues and solutions.
- To be responsible for maintaining authorised users and permissions as well as providing training to the relevant community in the effective use of systems as required.
- To be accountable for owning the systems gateway ensuring integrity of external suppliers and system integration.

About You:
Skills:
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder groups at all levels of a matrix organisation.
- Ability to use a structured approach to problem solving.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and cope with mission critical system changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to translate customer needs and requirements into roadmaps and deliverables.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of data systems architecture - conceptual, high level and ability to understand low level design.
- Knowledge of enterprise data management principles.
- Working knowledge of data management and analytical tool e.g., Tableau, Power BI or similar etc., cloud environments and other automation and productivity improvement tools such as MS Power Platforms etc..
- Preferred: Awareness of the core Project Controls disciplines, including; Schedule Management, Cost Management, Change Management and Risk Management and how they interrelate.
- An understanding of change control and governance arrangements.
- An understanding of financial management, budgeting and cost control.
Types of Experience:
- Experience of working within large infrastructure and/or delivery programmes.
- Experience of managing IT systems and technology in a major project / programme context.
- Experience of managing and providing end user support and training on project control or similar systems such as cost, estimation, contract management etc.
- Experience of negotiating and prioritising to resolve conflicts among project and external stakeholders.
- Experience of administering and supporting one or more project control systems, such as. CEMAR, ARES Prism or similar systems.
