Systems Engineering Manager - Smart Products

To support our exciting and innovative growth plans, MetLase is seeking a dynamic and experienced Systems Engineering Manager to be responsible for developing and delivering MetLase' Smart Products, along with the performance of the product engineering team. As the Systems Engineering Manager, you will have expertise in the application of systems engineering principles and you will be responsible for product definition, development, integration and testing.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and review system design specifications, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sub-systems into overall product solutions.
  • Conduct testing to verify and validate functionality, performance and reliability
  • Lead projects delivery, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and provide regular project updates.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical evaluation of suppliers and equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on key technologies and subsystems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in meetings, workshops, and technical reviews.
  • Support the development of engineering standards and best practices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues
  • Develop and implement upgrade strategies to optimise system performance and availability.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of system design, modifications, and maintenance activities.
  • Support the preparation of project proposals, feasibility studies, and technical specifications.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in related technologies, standards, and regulations.
  • Participate in relevant conferences, seminars, and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Share acquired knowledge with colleagues and contribute to the development of the engineering team.

Candidates will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field. In addition, a Master's degree, Chartered Engineering status and/or Professional certification would be advantageous. Candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of working in a Systems Engineering role, developing and delivering new products to market, problem solving, and leadership and management skills. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate proven in-house hardware, software and hardware experience.

    • Systems engineering for multi-disciplinary solutions
    • Experience of 'V model' approach to requirements, specifications, development, testing and validation
    • A working understanding of hardware, software and firmware development
    • Experience of working across a products life cycle, from concept through to in-service and end of life
    • Project management, budget management and NPI delivery
    • Ability to develop and execute a product management strategy
    • Product and Technology roadmap generation and update
    • Knowledge of data analytics techniques
    • Experience of identifying and integrating compliance and standards requirements
    • Competitor benchmarking, evaluation and down-selection
    • Customer solution generation
    • Communicate effectively, in speech and writing.
    • Build effective working relationships with the team and with other key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect that ensure the resolution of problems locally.
    • Help create a positive, enthusiastic, supportive working environment.
    • Implement and continuously improve the required and appropriate engineering process, method and tools

A full UK driving license is required as the Systems Engineering Manager role may require occasional travel to project sites.
