About the role:
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Sustainability, this role leads on the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives aligned with King's overall goals and commitments. Areas of activity include biodiversity, sustainable construction, waste and resource management, and sustainable transport. The role also involves maintaining an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, with responsibility for environmental compliance.
Based in an enthusiastic Sustainability Team within Estates & Facilities, you will work closely with colleagues across the university to coordinate cross departmental efforts, as well as collaborating with external partners to integrate sustainability into our operations.
This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Technical Proficiency: Proven experience of leading on environmental regulations and legislation compliance.
2. Environmental Management Expertise: Proven experience of environmental management within complex estates.3. Collaboration & Partnerships: Proven ability to establish partnerships and lead collaborative initiatives.
4. Stakeholder Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and ensure alignment within teams and organisations.
5. Communication & Organisational Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and manage tasks efficiently.
6. Budget & Project Management: Experience in managing significant budgets and leading complex projects.
7. Data & Reporting Skills: Ability to manage large, complex datasets and produce clear, insightful reports.
8. Relevant Qualification & Experience: Professionally qualified / relevant degree, with substantial experience in environmental management.
Desirable criteria
1. Postgraduate qualification in a relevant topic.
