What You'll Do
Reporting to the Senior Workplace, Data and Systems Manager, the Sustainability Manager will develop and enforce policies to reduce the environmental impact of the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulations. You will uphold our brand's sustainability commitments, enhance education on environmental issues, and strengthen Volvo Car UK's reputation.
As a sustainability expert, you'll support the Advocacy, Partnerships and Events team in managing relationships with organisations like Planet Mark and the Eden Project while facilitating sustainability events and communication. Additionally, you'll oversee reporting activities and support strategies within the retailer network.
Key Responsibilities
PR, Brand Support, and Communications:
Advise on sustainability-related communications and events.
Provide feedback on organisational sustainability performance.
Measurement, Reporting, and Compliance:
Manage emissions reporting for regulatory, corporate, and retailer needs.
Deliver sustainability metrics and ESG documentation for business tenders.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and vendor standards.
Education, Engagement, and Strategy:
Engage stakeholders through transparent methods and develop UK sustainability strategies.
Implement corporate targets, monitor trends, and identify areas for improvement.
Promote cross-functional collaboration on sustainability initiatives.
Business and Relationship Management:
Support annual and strategic planning, assessing new opportunities and pricing models.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, retailers, and industry bodies.
Manage the sustainability function within budgets and set high performance standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Foster a culture of change, reviewing processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and impact.
Skills and Experience
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of sustainability standards and practices.
- Bachelor's degree in ESG, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
- Technical reporting and data analytics skills with ESG framework experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and economic thinking abilities.
- Leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Budget management expertise.
- Interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration.
- Ability to travel overnight as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Industry-specific knowledge.
- External sustainability PR experience.
- Learning and development or training skills.
