Sustainability Manager

We are seeking an experienced sustainability manager to join our team. Sustainability is one of the key pillars of the Gripple five-year strategy, with an ambitious target of achieving net zero by 2030.The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to shape and develop our strategy and initiatives in line with the overarching company objectives. You will be ideally placed to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful embedding of sustainability across the whole global organisation.

What is the role
You will be tasked with developing and implementing sustainability strategies that align with the company's net zero

targets. You will be expected to monitor and measure the success of those strategies. In addition, the role will include the following responsibilities:
• Ensuring compliance with relevant sustainability standards and regulations including SECR, ESOS and EPR
• Developing carbon reduction plans and targets, driving actions and recording data
• Preparing sustainability reports as and when required
• Managing resources such as energy, waste and materials to reduce overall environmental impact
• Preparing sustainability information for annual accounts
• Developing relationships with stakeholders (both internal and external) to develop awareness and engagement of sustainability and ESG activity
• Promoting best practice - current and future in relation to sustainability
• Developing sustainability KPIs and a performance dashboard, and implement a cross-organisational sustainability performance monitoring programme to track data and ensure it is auditable and aligns with our sustainability strategy
• Working with colleagues across the business to embed sustainability considerations across our operations and align suppliers to our sustainability goals
• Leading delivery of our environmental commitments, including our net zero targets and emissions reduction roadmap, and waste and circularity.
• coordinating and leading input from external consultants

Working hours
Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm (core office hours of 7.00am-7.00pm Monday-Friday).

Who you are
The successful candidate must be a proactive and confident self-starter with a strong ownership mind-set, who is not afraid to jump into projects and build their understanding 'on-the-go'. They should also be able to offer the following:
• Sustainability or environmental management qualification at degree level or equivalent
• Extensive knowledge of climate change and the reduction of carbon footprint within scope 1 , 2 and 3
• Experience in sustainability management and strategy development
• Excellent presentation skills and ability to present to stakeholders at all levels
• Strong interpersonal skills including communication, relationship building, negotiation, decision making and influencing people
• High level of self-management skills including organisation and planning, self-motivation, creating thinking and emotional intelligence

The following would also be highly desirable:
• Relevant qualification or equivalent business experience in sustainability
• A depth of knowledge and passion for sustainability, with subject matter expertise in a range of environmental areas including net zero pathways and waste and circularity
• Familiarity with Planet Mark Certification
• Experience using carbon modelling tools, such as One Click LCA
• Experience with BREEAM
• Proficiency using a range of basic PC-based IT systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc)
