Salary: circa GBP 56,000 depending on experience
Location: Canary Wharf
WFH policy: Employees are required to attend the office 2 days/week

Role Summary:The Sustainability and Emissions team is new for LCCC, and we are looking for team members with operational industry experience who can demonstrate good knowledge of sustainability and emissions standards-based requirements to support operational assurance services across Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Electricity schemes.
This role will help ensure the responsible allocation of public money through verifying sustainability and emissions reporting from contractual counterparties and certifying producers. You will also contribute to guidance documents and establishing/continuous improvement of services related to the different standards. You will engage with and advise LCCC colleagues, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), and in industry forums.
Successful fulfilment of the role's responsibilities requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication skills and engagement in a culture of continuous improvement and positive collaboration in a technically complex area that is crucial to delivering the schemes that LCCC is responsible for.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the delivery of assurance activities in relation to generators, producers and emitters compliance with current (and future) scheme sustainability and emissions reporting.
- Contribute compliance knowledge to setting up and maintaining Sustainability and Emissions Reporting Services that are effective and scalable.
- Regularly review compliance standards/ procedures to ensure they are appropriate.
- Provide services and support to the Energy Certification Team to ensure the smooth launch and operation of the UK Low Carbon Hydrogen Certification as well as other upcoming initiatives
- Effectively communicate and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance requirements and best practices.
- Assist the Lead Sustainability and Emissions Manager in providing an advisory role to DESNZ in relation to any sustainability and emissions standards or policy that have the potential to affect LCCC activities and operations.
- Work with Operational Assurance colleagues to help scope the systems required for LCCC to fulfil its role in relation to sustainability and emissions reporting.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Operational experience in electricity, hydrogen, natural gas, oil or water.
- Knowledge of energy supply chains including biomass/biofuels, hydrogen and other energy vectors.
- Previous experience in government or voluntary compliance schemes in the energy, carbon or biofuels industries.
- Understanding of relevant regulations for energy production and emissions reductions in the UK and internationally such as RO, FiT, RHI, ETS, CBAM and others.
- Able to contribute to government and/or industry calls for evidence, consultations and working groups.
- Have excellent communication skills and be able to articulate complex concepts in a digestible manner for stakeholders across the business.
Desirable:
- Experience of compliance schemes based upon standards such as the Renewable Energy Directive or similar environmental standards.
- Previous experience in subsidy and/or certification schemes.
- Degree (Bachelor or Masters) in engineering, environmental science or a related field.
- Previous operational involvement with audits
- Experience working with ISO frameworks (eg; ISO 17065, ISO 14065)
