Nature of the role:

We are a service provider for Local Authorities, providing semi-supported accommodation to 16-18 year looked after children. Due to expansion we are now seeking a Supported Accommodation Manager in the South West area.

The candidate will ideally live in the South West and will be skilled, dynamic and committed to working with a range of professionals within Children & Young People's Services / Semi-Independent and the care leavers Supported Accommodation sector, this will include working with the local authority and voluntary sector. The Supported Accommodation Manager will also have experience and knowledge of Ofsted Regulations and Standards.

The manager will provide advice and guidance to the team offering reflective supervision and take a lead role in the support and development of the wider team and the service in line with the organizations mission statement, vision, value and ethos in achieving the best possible outcomes for the young people we support and other stakeholders such as our workforce and commissioners. We want you to inspire us and have a real impact on the way we work.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of excellent practice skills across the sector and to join our management team undertaking a pivotal role in our journey to achieving 'good' regarding OFSTED. You will need to have the aptitude and values to lead services, ensuring that vulnerable children and young people we support receive the best possible service.

JOB PURPOSE

To lead, manage, and oversee the day-to-day operations of a semi-independent supported accommodation facility, ensuring a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all residents.

Position Overview: The role requires overseeing and enhancing our supported accommodation services to cater to the needs of the young people we serve, adhering to various legal frameworks including the Children's Act (1989) and the Health & Safety Act (1974).

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and support to staff and young individuals daily.

Handle budgeting across accommodations.

Lead team management, staff training, and performance evaluations.

Address and analyze complaints, working alongside senior management to spot trends.

Oversee business strategy and planning for Eclipse Properties Ltd accommodations.

Ensure precise record-keeping.

Lead recruitment processes and ensure they're safe.

Oversee placement referrals and ensure homes are safeguarded.

Foster relationships with Local Authorities.

Handle disciplinary actions and liaise with HR.

Ensure timely and accurate timesheet processing.

Organize and participate in monthly meetings.

Offer mentoring and coaching to staff.

Aid in expanding Eclipse Properties reach to new areas.

Update company policies and attend mandatory meetings when needed.

Oversee contractor checks before any project commencement.

Uphold Eclipse Properties Ltd safeguarding standards.

Duties:

  • Efficiently manage a diverse team focused on assessment and support.
  • Facilitate change and new methodologies in coordination with senior management.
  • Ensure financial sustainability while meeting support needs.
  • Lead service delivery, including staff mentoring, training, and recruitment.
  • Spearhead complaints redressal and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Plan and develop services in accordance with regulations, ensuring recommendations are timely implemented.
  • Allocate work based on priority and manage budgets.
  • Empower staff to make informed decisions in line with legal mandates.
  • Adapt to unpredictable shifts and be available after hours as needed.
  • Foster a motivating environment.
  • Handle assessments under the Care Act.
  • Understand the role of Service Manager for 16+ Supported Accommodation and relevant standards.
  • Lead partnership initiatives and ensure safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Be available for after-hours work, including weekends.
  • Safeguard all information, ensuring timely return of files to local authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accommodation, ensuring the facility runs efficiently.
  • Ensure that the accommodation meets all regulatory and statutory requirements, including health and safety.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and finances efficiently.

Staff Management:

  • Lead, manage, and support the staff team to ensure the best outcomes for young people
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, supervisions, and appraisals.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of staff.

Resident Support:

  • Ensure residents receive the required support to develop independent living skills.
  • Monitor and review individual care/support plans in collaboration with other professionals and residents.
  • Handle any issues or conflicts that arise, mediating as necessary.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with external agencies, local authorities, and other professionals.
  • Foster good relations with neighbors and the local community.
  • Represent the accommodation in relevant forums and meetings.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure the facility complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Produce regular reports on the facility's operations, finances, and resident progress.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Implement best practices in care and support.
  • Regularly review and update facility policies and procedures.
  • Gather feedback from residents and staff to improve services.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree or qualification in a relevant field such as social work, health and social care, or management.
  • Experience in managing supported accommodation or related settings.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment and statutory requirements.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of residents and staff.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and mediation skills.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Candidate MUST have NVQ (QCF) LEVEL 5 or above in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.
  • MUST have 12 months experience of working with vulnerable young people.
  • MUST have a Full, clean UK driving license.
  • UP-TO-DATE DBS preferred. Company will apply for right candidate.
  • Core/Statutory Training will be provided by company.
