About the role

Reporting to the Head of Planning & Continuous Improvement and working closely with Planning/CI/Op Ex Managers, the Replenishment team, the Invent hub team, and IT teams (all levels), the Systems Optimisation, Development and Delivery Manager will manage improvements relating to our Forecasting and Replenishment system (Invent.ai) to ensure we are running optimally, as well as understanding the wider supply chain systems landscape to support and maintain day-to-day smooth running of all systems to support business and operational plans.

The role is accountable for a system replenishing the entire Boots estate of 18M item:store pair combinations and inventory value of c.£700m and is a key player in delivering the F&R business case outcomes of 1% OSA and 10% stock reduction

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities are:

• System optimisation - parameter tuning, workflow streamlining, automation.

• Triage incoming requests from the business, prioritising based on impact, urgency, and alignment with strategic goals.

• First line of advisory for micro-level system change requests before escalation.

• Maintenance of all design documentation and version control

• Responsible for ensuring appropriate systems support is in place

• Digital twin modelling - impact simulation for change requests.

• Change requests - evaluate, test, and deliver smaller changes (escalate strategic ones to Strategy Manager).

• Collaborate with IT on change delivery, testing, and deployment.

• Integration work - ensure smooth data flow between systems (ERP, forecasting, supplier tools).

• Data science driven analysis for operational efficiency improvements.

• Collaboration with replenishment specialists to ensure user needs are met.

• Maintain/update systems development roadmap aligned with business strategy

• Maintain deep understanding of system functionality, parameters, and configuration rules

• Support Operational Excellence and CI teams with any training, guidance, and support requirements and materials.

• Participate in cross-functional projects, ensuring the system perspective is always represented.

• Serve as the bridge between the Supply Chain CoE, IT and replenishment specialists.

What you'll need to have

These are the essential skills or experience needed to succeed in this role.

• Management, coordination and delivery of technical development of systems & change management

• Ability to understand and influence IT proposals, challenging appropriately to achieve optimal outcomes

• Deep technical knowledge of Azure cloud, coding language (e.g. Python, Sequel, Py.spark)

• Working understanding of AI/ML and agentic AI methodologies

• Detailed knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain operation with ability to make appropriate trade-offs

• Senior stakeholder management and influence
