Role Purpose

The Studio Manager / Senior Artworker role is responsible for creating and updating packaging artwork to meet technical and printing specifications. This involves receiving information from internal and external stakeholders (including global affiliates), external customers such as contract manufacturers, design agencies and own-label clients.

The Studio Manager / Senior Artworker manages artwork creation within the internal artwork studio, ensuring the final product meets the required standards by integrating designs and documentation through various stakeholders and the GLAMS artwork management system. This position also supports Artwork Coordinators by ensuring amendments are completed and deadlines are met.

How You Will Make An Impact

Artwork creation & delivery

  • Produce high-quality, repro/print-ready artwork using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign (with occasional use of Photoshop and Acrobat).
  • Ensure all artwork meets company standards, technical specifications, and deadlines.
  • Conduct accurate proofreading, technical checks, pre-production and print checks.
  • Maintain and update the cutter/keyline library.
  • Support updates to our brand, packaging and back-of-pack guidelines.
  • Works with minimal direct supervision provides training and support to other team members as required.

Systems & technical tasks

  • Operate artwork management and lifecycle systems (including GLAMS) in line with business processes.
  • Keen eye for detail for creating and checking artwork is to a regulatory standard.
  • Generate barcodes and data matrix codes using Esko software and create other technical elements required by manufacturers.
  • Leads teams in development and revisions of relevant SOPs for the functional area.
  • Support continuous improvement by keeping workflows, documentation, and system processes up to date.

Collaboration & workflow

  • Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and project stakeholders to manage artwork from briefing through to approval.
  • Participate in team meetings, pre-artwork meetings, and project discussions, suggesting improvements where appropriate.
  • Manage personal workload effectively, using initiative to prioritise tasks based on business needs and KPIs.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment while taking accountability for individual actions.

We're looking for someone who shares this spirit and brings the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Packaging Artworker or similar role within a fast-paced environment. Experience in pharmaceutical, FMCG, or other regulated industries is required.
  • Experience with repro and artwork production, with an understanding of artwork-to-print workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of print processes, including litho, flexo, offset and corrugated.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and confident managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative communicator who can work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
