About the role
The Student Support Quality Manager, working as part of the leadership team, will take a leading role in ensuring the quality of the student support service now and in the future.
This means understanding what quality means for Student Support and creating mechanisms to monitor and continuously improve the student and staff experience, bringing innovation and supporting people to adopt new approaches to student support.
The service has been in existence for under a year, and this is the first time we'll have a Quality Manager. There are projects for the postholder to lead including designing and implementing a Coaching Approach for the team to adopt. Similarly, as this is an entirely new role, the postholder will conduct reviews of service quality to identify areas for improvement, innovation and creativity, working collaboratively with the Advisors, Team Leaders and Director.
Additionally, the role will involve considerable collaboration with other teams and stakeholders to ensure, amongst other things, compliance of the service with existing King's policies, processes and frameworks. The postholder will oversee the launch of new programmes, ensuring Student Support's readiness for new programme delivery, and ensure each new student intake is successfully onboarded including working with colleagues in the Students and Education Directorate and other partners.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- You should either hold a degree/postgraduate qualification (plus management experience) in a relevant subject, or, you should have substantial vocational and relevant management experience in a relevant professional field.
- Evidence of success in similar or related roles, supported by evidence of significant appropriate specialist knowledge
- Authoritative knowledge of student support work practices and coaching approaches
- Project and people management skills, in particular team development, that may have been gained/be identifiable through previous experience
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including using digital tools (e.g. MS Office tools) to analyse and interpret data
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills including an ability to influence and negotiate
Desirable criteria
- Designing and implementing a coaching approach
- Awareness of the current and future activities of the College with regards to online education delivery
