Job Description

We're recruiting for a Strategy Manager to join us. The Retail Strategy team is a high performing and important part of the division, directly supporting the CEO and senior leaders across the business in developing our strategy and solve their most complex problems.

The role holders core responsibility will be to support the Head of Retail Strategy in developing the Retail strategy. The majority of the role holders remaining time will be spent owning and delivering a wide range of strategic initiatives (e.g. market entry assessments, proposition development and competitor insight) for the division, fostering relationships and working directly with senior business leaders.

A key aspect of the role is ensuring strategic alignment between the 'top-down' Retail strategic priorities, 'bottom-up' business areas strategies and ever-changing industry trends and competitor dynamics. The role holder will promote best practice collaboration and deliver pan-Retail initiatives, servant leading the Business Owner community to drive high value insights and recommendations.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support coordination of Retail Quarterly Business Reviews (incl. maintaining of strategic OKR dashboard). Providing MDs / Programme Sponsor support; using a combination of strong leadership skills, business and market expertise to enable key Execs to articulate and drive their business strategies with the right behaviours
  • Owning and solving strategic analysis by conducting and delivering quantitative / qualitative analysis (including customer research and insight) and synthesising findings into strategic recommendations
  • Support in the facilitating and coordinating strategic workshops with relevant senior stakeholder and decision makers
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis to inform the Retail strategy and business area strategies & own the development of the UK FS landscape map
  • Supporting the Head of Strategy with adhoc requests from the CEO and Exec team (E.g. CFO, MDs, CTO), such as performing competitor analysis, market sizing, focussed research
  • Supporting the definition, and development of a strategy and plan to ensure business development activities are delivered in line with Legal & General's Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Related academic qualifications, ideally in business / management / economics or equivalent
  • Relevant strategic / management consulting experience with a focus on Financial Services (markets such as Pensions, Savings, Retirement, Protection and Mortgages are preferable).
  • Strategic planning processes and approaches
  • Financial modelling
  • Strong research and analytical skills to derive relevant insights
  • Strong written and oral communication (incl. high proficiency in PowerPoint) - to clearly articulate and develop compelling messaging and analysis to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to build relationships, make connections and interact effectively with both senior leaders and divisional colleagues, and challenge stakeholders where necessary
  • Foundational financial modelling ability (e.g. creating simple market sizing and forecasting)
  • Customer consciousness and awareness
