As a Strategy Director within the Technology Strategic Advisory Practice, you will be an integral part of a compact, highly skilled team operating in a project-oriented environment. Your area of specialization will be the public cloud. Utilizing your profound Cloud expertise, you will formulate and implement actionable strategies to tackle the most intricate challenges faced by the Chief Information Officer. This leadership role involves directly assisting the technology executives for our Corporate and Investment Banking businesses, providing them with advice on opportunities and obstacles that will expedite their decision-making process. You will serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader, offering insights that will hasten decisions on areas hindering strategy execution. This role is perfectly suited for proactive team members possessing advanced problem-solving and communication skills.

Background

The Strategic Advisory (SA) practice reports into the CIB Engineering & Architecture group which provides services to the business aligned CIOs for Markets, Payments, and Security Services to accelerate their business delivery.

The SA practice is accountable for providing the CIOs leverage by joining the dots across the CIB & Global Technology to give recommendations and enable solutions that address their most complex technical / process blockers. The team's main stakeholders are the CIOs, their Engineering & Architecture leads, and their Finance & Business Management aligned leads.

Role

A successful candidate will be part of a small, highly skilled, highly focused team working in a project-based environment like an internal consulting function. In this context, the team needs various domains of expertise, yours will be on public cloud. The team's work is driven by the most senior technology directors, pivoting to new priorities as market, regulatory / control, and business priorities demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use your deep Cloud expertise to shape and develop actionable strategies that address the CIO's most complex challenges including:
    - Impediments to security, controls & compliance within the public cloud
    - Cost Management and ongoing optimization to manage cloud expenditure (FinOps)
    - AI/ML opportunities and dependencies
    - Cultivating best practices for cloud migrations and operational activities post migration.
    - Multi-region and multi-provider resiliency / failover scenarios, costs & challenges
    - Education and guidance to senior executives on complex technical topics

This is a leadership role that directly supports the technology executives for our CIB businesses, advising them on opportunities and challenges that will accelerate their decision making.

Although the team is not expected to build products, solution architecture experience will be essential to have meaningful discussions with senior engineering and architecture leads.

You will act as trusted advisor & thought leader through partnering with and influencing CIB / Global Technology domain experts and providing insights that will accelerate decisions on areas that are blocking strategy execution.

These projects will provide significant exposure & visibility to senior management. This role is ideal for initiative-taking individuals with advanced problem solving and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior level of experience in technology ideally in financial services industry
  • Proven experience within the AWS Partner Network or as an Azure Expert Managed Services Provider
  • Demonstrated success working with customers on complex cloud services / infrastructure migrations to public/private/hybrid cloud, ideally within a global enterprise capacity.
  • "Big 5" consulting experience in cloud transformation strategy space
  • Experience presenting to executive level IT managers, ability to quickly build trust, while constructively challenging where appropriate.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulatory & compliance environment
  • Customer-centric approach via a genuine focus on understanding customer expectations and helping them address their challenges.
  • Ability to structure and scope complex problems, identify major issues and apply a range of analytical tools to develop actionable opportunities.
