As our Strategic Pursuits Director, you will lead on identifying, shaping and leading major bids that will materially evolve the size, scale and complexity of deals that Made Tech is capable of winning - significantly expanding our client portfolio and our contract backlog and revenue.
Key responsibilities include:
- working collaboratively with Industry Directors, Head of Bids, Client Partners, and our Business Development Director, to identify, prioritise and target strategic pursuits
- gathering market intelligence through your relationships with senior stakeholders across government, as well as partners and suppliers
- working with the solutions team and service lines/practices, to shape specific client facing value propositions to proactively take to market
- leading cross-functional teams to create winning proposals, operating in a 'hands-on' capacity for strategic bids
- navigate complex procurement, align with public policy, and demonstrate an understanding of each industry's unique needs
- drive process improvements to increase win rates
Key Responsibilities
This senior role requires strong experience in previous strategic sales roles in public sector public services, strategic thinking, business acumen, and collaboration and consulting skills. You will be responsible for:
1. Strategic Planning:
- Work collaboratively with Industry Directors and the Head of Bids to develop tailored pursuit strategies across target clients in different areas of the public sector. You will lead the development of win plans to deliver client strategic objectives, shape our competitive positioning and help execute against Made Tech's strategic direction.
2. Market Intelligence:
- Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, client needs, and competitor activities to inform strategy and value propositions. Maintain relationships with partners to help share intel, build partner relationships to help target and win specific opportunities.
3. Client Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with client decision-makers, understanding their strategic drivers and business challenges.
4. Compelling Proposal Development:
- Lead the creation of compelling, client-centric proposals, pitches, and presentations, ensuring alignment with the overall win strategy.
5. Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Coordinate and motivate diverse internal teams, including subject matter experts, sales, and executive leadership, to contribute to pursuit efforts.
6. Value Proposition:
- Define and articulate clear, insight-driven value propositions and business cases that demonstrate clear value to clients.
7. Performance & Process Improvement:
- Track and report on pursuit performance, driving continuous improvement in processes and team knowledge to enhance win rates.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
To be successful in this role, you will be able to evidence the following:
1. Strategic Pursuit Experience:
Proven track record of at least 5 years leading and winning strategic pursuits in the public sector, ideally in some of the UK Governments Top 10 spenders on IT.
2. Leadership and Collaboration:
Proven track record of inspiring leadership of matrix teams in strategic pursuits or sales role in the public sector. Able to evidence managing high-performing teams in excess of 20+ people, including experience of coaching, managing and influencing a wide range of staff and skill sets
3. Industry Knowledge and Consulting Skills:
Deep understanding of the UK public sector landscape, policies, and challenges digital transformation and technology initiatives and spending patterns. Familiarity with the latest trends in technology and their application to government initiatives and different target clients. The ability to consult, advise and influence client vision and direction.
4. Relationship Building:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and
maintain strong relationships at all levels.
5. Strategic & Analytical Skills:
Strong ability to develop strategic plans, analyse market dynamics, and create data-driven insights.
6. Business Development:
Experience in strategic sales, win plans, proposal development, competitive strategy, decision maker strategy and a demonstrably track record of winning large, strategic deals (in excess of GBP 100m TCV).
7. Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop compelling narratives and present complex information clearly.
