About the role

The IS Manager for Workplace is a senior role in the IS team of Booker, and develops a team responsible for delivering effective, secure and efficient user account, system and data access management throughout the Booker estate and for all Booker colleagues, across all departments to help improve customer satisfaction and cash profit. The role is accountable for owning the internal & external teams that administrate user accounts, system access and data access. The role's scope includes oversight of Office 365 adoption, privileged access management, software licensing and security aspects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Continually improve and align with organisational change procedures and system security.
  • Follow all company policies, e.g. financial planning and control, health and safety.
  • Ensure disaster recovery is regularly validated and other risks are regularly reviewed and handled.
  • Ensure system availability, costs and approved project status are reported accurately each period.
  • Work pro-actively to achieve clean internal, external and supplier audits.
  • Work with the procurement and legal teams to source suppliers of IS infrastructure, software, and development/ support services.
  • Lead supplier contracts and licensing agreements to ensure we remain aligned with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Develop your team, their performance and progression, and support team development.
  • Champion diversity and inclusion to ensure everyone feels welcome at Booker.
  • Empower your team with clear expectations and provide recognition.
  • Work to identify issues that will or are impacting systems stability, availability and functionality, and then work promptly, jointly & proactively to mitigate and resolve such issues.
  • Work with partners to lead service perception and the understanding of IS services.
  • Work proactively with team members to improve processes and maximise system asset utilization.
  • Deliver an effective application architecture and development roadmap to support the company's growth plans.
  • Remain knowledgeable about technology trends and innovations.
  • Work promptly, jointly & proactively on projects to improve cash profit & customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in full to agreed budgets and timescales, and then reviewed.
  • Fully demonstrate our supplier's capacity and capability to undertake project and service activity.
  • Handle applications, technical and service architecture efficiently.
  • Provide fit-for-purpose systems at the minimum cost.
  • Handle suppliers to maximise value for money on products and services.
  • Handle major software and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Find ways to achieve or beat budgeted costs and try to improve costs year-on-year.
  • Deliver new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Deliver innovation through transformation and continual service improvement.

You will need

  • Excellence in building positive relationships with business team members.
  • Solid technical background in device & software management, project management and support provision.
  • Deliver continuous improvements.
  • Strong business process design skills and the ability to translate into technical solutions.
  • Aim to succeed and deliver projects and ongoing service management.
  • Excellent team leadership skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, being able to communicate optimally and efficiently taking into account the nature of the audience.

Experience relevant for this job:

  • Good understanding of user and system access management techniques, privileged access management systems and their standard methodology, ideally with experience of some if not all of the following; Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, Beyond Trust and OneLogin.
  • Knowledge of the wholesale industry and its business processes.
  • Strong people management, with shown ability to efficiently lead team capability and performance.
  • Excellent technical project management skills and successful delivery of change programs.
  • Building credible and long lasting relationships with business team members.
  • Consistent delivery of results.
