The Store Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Club's retail store operations, ensuring a high standard of customer service, strong sales performance, and effective team leadership.
Operating within the unique environment of a Premiership Football Club, the role requires a balance of commercial awareness, fan engagement, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Store Performance & Sales
- Drive store sales to achieve and exceed targets, contributing to overall retail revenue.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and matchday sales performance, taking action to maximise opportunities.
- Support the delivery of retail KPIs, including revenue, conversion, and average transaction value.
- Identify opportunities to increase in-store sales through promotions, upselling, and product placement.
Retail Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the Club store, including matchdays and peak trading periods.
- Ensure high standards of visual merchandising in line with Club guidelines.
- Manage stock levels, replenishment, and stockroom organisation to maintain product availability.
- Support inventory control, including conducting stock counts and implementing loss-prevention measures.
Customer Experience & Fan Engagement
- Deliver an outstanding customer experience that reflects the Club's brand and values.
- Engage with supporters to enhance the matchday and in-store experience.
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure the store environment is welcoming, safe, and well-presented at all times.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of retail assistants, including part-time and matchday staff.
- Support recruitment, training, and development of store team members.
- Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback to drive performance.
- Ensure staff rotas are effectively managed to meet business needs.
Merchandising & Product Support
- Implement product launches, in-store promotions, and seasonal campaigns.
- Work with the wider retail team to ensure timely delivery and display of new merchandise.
- Provide feedback on product performance and customer trends to support buying decisions.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with health & safety policies and retail procedures.
- Follow cash handling, security, and operational processes.
- Support adherence to Club policies and relevant retail legislation.
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a retail supervisory or store management role.
- Proven ability to drive sales and deliver against targets.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience in stock control and visual merchandising.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and matchdays.
Desirable
- Experience in sports retail, fan-focused environments, or event-based retail.
- Understanding of football supporter culture and matchday operations.
- Familiarity with EPOS systems and retail reporting tools.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-footfall retail environment.
