The EPMO Director reports to the Transformation Director and is part of the wider Transformation Senior Leadership Team. The role acts as the custodian of successful delivery of Strategy & Business Change at BAM. The role involves overseeing strategy and divisional planning, roadmap development and prioritization to ensure alignment with the organization's strategic objectives and optimal impact. Enterprise wide business engagement and stakeholder management is a primary focus for the role to ensure business feedback is appropriately considered in delivering change.
The EPMO Director provides leadership throughout the business change project lifecycle, ensuring business level sponsorship and adherence to the governance framework and key processes. This includes responsibility for continuous improvement of project management processes and business adherence to the minimum standards for delivering change at BAM. The role is also responsible for measurement and reporting of benefits realisation to demonstrate progress against strategic goals.
The role leads the EPMO team, as part of this people management and development is core alongside building resilience in executing change. Business change is delivered in partnership with other Enabling Services and Operations, a key requirement of the role is embedding a collaborative, outcome focussed approach at BAM.
Your mission
Strategic Planning and Alignment:
Develop the business change strategy and roadmap in cohesion with BAMs strategic goals and targets. Facilitate the selection and prioritization of portfolios and projects based on strategic alignment and optimal impact. Adapt the strategy and agenda to meet evolving business needs and priorities ensuring agility in decision making and implementation.
Portfolio Management:
Oversee the Business Change portfolios, ensuring successful delivery to time, cost and quality. Monitor performance against robust project management plans, ensuring risks are proactively mitigated and tangible business benefits are delivered. Ensure proactive and energised business sponsorship of projects to ensure business ownership and effective delivery. Manage financial budgets with fiscal responsibility, ensuring an affordable and effective delivery approach leveraging the wider business capability.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with Senior stakeholders and the wider leadership community at BAM to ensure Business change efforts are well aligned with overarching business goals. Develop strong relationships and influence within these groups to help tackle organisational and cultural barriers to change. Ensure clear and ongoing communication with all stakeholders to maintain transparency and support of the change agenda.
Engagement Approach:
Build business change advocacy at BAM through an inclusive engagement approach. Proactively manage Business change networks, leads and partners to ensure the "voice of the business" is appropriately represented in the implementation of change. Partner with Comms colleagues to develop creative communications and engagement channels to address feedback and inherent change resistance.
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead a high performing, resilient team of change professionals at BAM who have a positive mindset, are values led, and work in partnership with the business. Give focus to people development ensuring skills and capabilities are aligned and responsive to the business change agenda.
Project Management and Governance:
Develop and enhance project management methodologies, tools, and templates based on a simple and pragmatic approach to delivering change at BAM. Ensure appropriate portfolio and project governance aligned to overarching corporate governance and DLT committee framework. Build a culture of strong project management discipline underpinned by Business Change processes and the minimum standards of delivery.
Who are we looking for?
• Accreditations in change management, project management, programme management or business analysis.
• Significant years of experience in project and programme management in a leadership role within an EPMO or similar environment.
• Demonstrable experience in developing high performing, cross functional transformation teams founded on a culture of good project management discipline.
• Track record in leading enterprise level transformation portfolios and projects that deliver measurable business benefits.
• Ability to influence Senior Stakeholders and build a strong and collaborative leadership network in support of the change agenda.
• Demonstrable experience in fostering cultural change through business engagement, shifting entrenched thinking towards change advocacy.
• Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues to get involved and take ownership, empathetic individual who encourages an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
• Natural solution orientated individual who is adept at finding creative solutions that overcome organisational barriers and deliver real business value. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and finding a pathway forward.
• Highly adaptable with the capability to pivot approach in response to business needs and market conditions. Able to quickly learn from experience and course correct according to BAMs response to change.
• Outstanding ability to communicate and engage effectively across all levels of the business, using channels and content creatively to facilitate understanding and buy in to Business change.
• Experience in navigating corporate and transformation governance in a large business or PLC environment.
