This position is open to current Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) staff only.

A temporary Station Manager vacancy has become available in Response. The vacancy is expected to be 3 months initial posting, reviewable quarterly throughout a 12 month period.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service are looking to fill this vacancy with a motivated and committed individual who can demonstrate strong organisational values in line with SCC and SFRS.

Role requirements

You must attain a L2 emergency response driving qualification as well as a current level 2 qualification. These can be completed once in post. You must be eligible to apply as per ADC/SM Pathway progression under the SPD.

Flexi duty cover will be where this is required at the time. You must be prepared to make arrangements to cover all areas, including overnight duties (11/24) Central, North, South, West as and when required.

  • Question 1: One of the main areas of responsibility will be to manage and deliver Response projects. Please give examples of projects that you have managed and your approach to project management and the benefits achieved as a result.
  • Question 2: Please describe your experience of working with On-Call colleagues and also explain how you will develop the role of on-call liaison.
  • Question 3: Please describe how you have encouraged and supported your team members in terms of their personal development and workplace journey. How will you ensure a people focused approach balanced against Service need?
  • Question 4: Please describe your experience in effectively managing budgets and how you approach budget planning and forecasting.
